Don't you find them annoying? You have to wash them every fucking day because they somehow get all greasy even when you don't wear them,
they always want to slide off your nose (though I tend to sweat a lot, so...), and there's that stupid frame constantly in your vision.

It's also hard to read with them, because unless you lower your head directly over the text or hold the text in your hands, you'll be looking below your glasses, which gives a fucking headache.

Thankfully, my vision is still good enough for me to wear them only at school or when driving. Even then, I don't always wear them. Not sure if I could be fined for that...
Who else here hates their glasses? Or loves them because otherwise they can't see shit?

If you hate glasses, try contacts. I love them so much, I hated glasses.

Yes, I wear them. I have all of the same complaints as you. I plan to get laser surgery when I turn 30 next year. I will also add that I really hate my current glasses. My last pair was great, but they were rimless, so no places can replaces the lenses with an up to date prescription.

I wear glasses for driving and watching tv, and I have no problem with them. Granted, I spent over an hour picking them out.

I'm guessing you must be new to wearing glasses, lavalarva. I've been wearing glasses since the 4th grade, and I can't live without them now. Anything past about 6 inches away from my face is blurry. However, I do agree with you about having to constantly clean them... and if you're only cleaning them once a day, consider yourself lucky, I polish mine on my shirt several times a day.

I've had glasses for about 4 years now, but they didn't annoy me too much until recently. I don't really know why they annoy me so much more than back then.

About contacts, I'm kinda paranoid about putting stuff in my eyes (even just some fucking water). Also, I have a chemistry course, where glasses are actually nice to have :

- You don't need to wear security glasses, normal glasses are enough.
- They strongly recommend NOT to wear contacts, because the vapors of acids and other solutions in the air can bend the contact lens or deform them
or make them melt in your eye or whatever, and then it's total pain in the ass to take them out.

This is pretty much me. I'm a little better than 6 inches away though. There are only certain shirts that I feel work well without smudging my glasses, I find myself choosing my shirt in the morning based on this sometimes because I clean them so often.

I wear glasses when playing video games and working on my computer. I don't wear them at work because they steam up constantly.

Yep, I got 'em too and wouldn't trade them. I can't stand contacts. I tried them once, for about three hours, and just couldn't stand the feel of something in my eye like that. Ugh. I've been wearing these since...5th grade or maybe 6th I think. I currently own an awesome pair that are made out of this really light and super-bendy titanium (?) metal. Basically, the only way you can break them is if the lens cracks. The frames bend and twist and are great. I also have a prescription pair of sunglasses, which I would absolutely die without. I can't see worth crap in bright light.

The wiping and cleaning of the lenses does get old, though. For sure.

I never knew I needed mine until the DMV told me I was basically blind. You know those things they have you stick your face in to to check your long distance view? I kept insisting that the machine was broken because I couldn't see a thing. They had me try three different ones before I accepted that I didn't have perfect vision.

I kept the first pair until they started falling apart, I had to keep super gluing the lenses back in to the frames. Laughing

This one time at a Jungle Rot / Vader concert I jumped in to the mosh pit without realizing I still had them on. They promptly flew off and I spent the next 15 minutes crawling around on the floor during a mosh pit looking for them. The buddy I went to the show with who was standing about 15 feet back at the bar had them, and they were undamaged. He said they slid across the floor right to his feet. What are the odds eh?

I want to get contact lenses for obvious reasons, plus I look younger without them, but some people say I look better with glasses.

Clearly the glasses add a level of sophistication.

I've worn glasses since 5th grade (the same year I got braces so you know that social year was shot). I'm with the majority of "no contacts" people in regard to not wanting to jab things in my eye.

I used to cry when they wanted to put drops in my eye at the optomitrist. They literally had to hold me down and pry my eye lid open. Once I got contacts I was a little weary but I hated my glasses so much. I have a -8.5 in each eye. So the glasses are very thick. I sleep in my contacts all the time and can't imagine not sleeping in them. Yea they get dry but drops in the morning and I'm set. Plus I used to be a -9.5 and -9.0 and since wearing them for months at a time my eye sight has gotten better...rather weird...

I should wear my glasses, but since extreme skinniness, glasses, and very short hair together look nerdy (though I'm definitely a nerd and very likely an assburger, I don't like the nerd look) I decided to stop wearing them (until my hair grows shaggy at least). I have astigmastism and I heard that sucks when it comes to contacts. I've also been told they can be purty durn expenseev.

I got glasses in second grade, I think. But then I wore them and they didn't do anything so I quit wearing them, and then my mom was all "If they didn't do anything, they wouldn't have given them to you." So anyway, a few years later we got a new eye doctor, and he commented that the prescription I got was so weak he didn't understand why they gave them to me. The first in my long line of victories against the system, 162, huzzah!

Yeah, I lose worse than all of you, though. I'm ocular albino, and thus quite legally blind, however glasses don't do shit to fix my vision, I'm just stuck having to sit a metre from the television if I want to see anything at all. So I don't give a damn how anoying you might find glasses, at least you bastards get to see Mad

I don't wear glasses, but I do think they look cool on people, and I also think they make girls look sexier (if worn right.)

When I was around 12 and in camp, I saw a friend take out his contacts/put some new ones in and was pretty disgusted, so I can definitely understand where the hate comes from there.

I wore glasses until high school for my crossed eyes. They managed to correct it using botchulism of all things. I still need them for reading sometimes because my left eye sucks. I can usually compensate with my right eye most of the time, but if I get tired I have to use them.

Kinda unrelated, but I've started wondering if it could have affected my vision :

Anybody here ever got eye infection? That shit made it hurt so much to just try to open my eyes. My parents thought it was because I played video games too much
(and I don't blame them for that, I thought it was the case too), but the real reason was probably because I put my fingers in my eyes all the time (fucking morning dirt).

So, for a about a week in 3rd grade, I had like this giant eyepatch over my eye, which would have made me look like a pirate if it hadn't been white and full of scotch tape.
I can't even remember which eye it was, but I certainly didn't forget that IT ITCHED LIKE HELL.
