In this topic, post how you discovered a video game. Try posting something original.

For example, I didn't know about fire emblem until I downloaded the rom.

One I discovered in a strange way is the final fantasy series. I was watching a zelda parody on newgrounds.com called "Link's Quest for Ass" (don't worry, no sodomy involved). There was a combat scene with 8-bit Link and 16-bit Link fighting a "Giant Anus" (those monsters in FF6 that take you to Gogo's secret cave).
It was in FF1 style. Both Links were saved by Cutman.

I then looked in the scene selection screen to find from what game it was from.
A few days later, I was downloading the FF6 rom. It had better reviews than IV and V and the screenshot was cooler (final battle against Kefka). At the time I didn't have a SNES.

Anyway, did you discover any video game in a funny way?

Long ago, I remember hearing for months and months about this game called, "Fallout" and all my friends were telling these crazy stories about how they broke into peoples houses and stole shit from right in front of the owners. And, how they shot a kid and his dog, and now they couldn't go back to that town cause they were labled as "Child Killers". Or, how they helped this farmer, and he gave them his daughter as a reward.

Anyways, by the time I went out and bought the game, I had no idea what to expect, but it sounded pretty crazy. Now, it holds a spot in my all-time top 5 Video Game RPGs.

Wherefor art thou, Fallout 3?

I remember how I found Duke Nukem forever. I was working as a janitor, and like Hacksaw and the TV Title I just happened upon the only copy of Duke Nukem Forever. I intend to hold on to this baby...forever. (And no, I won't tell you what platform it's for :-p)

I was out playing with my two best friends one day. We were crossing a tree that had fallen down, making a bridge of sorts over this waterfall. We were goofing around and I lost my balance and fell off. My friends ran away. After I recovered from my fall, I heard a voice, so I followed it. Then I saw a ghost, and he talked to me, and when he disappeared, there was a copy of Secret of Mana there.

I found a rented copy of Where's Waldo lying on a pew in church after CCD one afternoon. After playing the game for 20 minutes, I realized why it was there: to seek atonement for sucking a whole lot of ass.

Being as the game was terrible, I did the right thing and returned it to the video store, thus sparing someone an assload of late fees.

I picked up a clean disc on the train (the A Train), put it into my laptop, and found...

Way better than the original, except it's short.

Edit: Fixed!

Dude, I think you can clearly see that it's Life Force 2 (Salamander 2 in Japan) the sequel to 1986's Salamander.

I love Konami.

All I see are angry red Xs where the images should be. I judged by the filenames they had something to do with Life Force, but wasn't sure.

Anime based on Salamander/Life Force with music from Gradius 2.

It came out on Home Video in 1988.

This is so fucking awesome!!

Good to see they used both side scrolling and vertical levels like before.
