The Japanese cellphone sequel to Final Fantasy IV looks to be heading to North America, as the ESRB rates Final Fantasy IV: The After Years for the Nintendo Wii.
Once again the Entertainment Software Review Board ruins the surprise for everyone, as an entry appears for Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. Released in episodic format last year for Japanese cell phones as Final Fantasy IV the After: Tsuki no Kikan, the game follows the adventures of Cecil and Rosa's son Ceodore, 17 years after the original game's ending. Along the way players encounter returning characters and strange new ones as they unravel the mystery behind the reappearance of the planet's second moon.
The game features a few mechanics new to the Final Fantasy series. Character and monster abilities change with the phase of the moon, which shifts every time the party rests at an inn, with certain rare monsters only appearing during specific lunar phases. The game also features Band Abilities, which are devastating multi-character combo attacks. |
Glad to see it hop off cellphones (and out of Japan)... it just gave me some incentive to finish FFIV DS too, as hard as it is.

I've been waiting for this for a while now. The final chapter was released around Christmas. The last chapter sounds badass and has some surprise encounters that should be fun. I can't wait.

*For the drama value, please remember that I am a complete atheist and me uttering the name of any religious figure in that way is like the Pope saying "Satan is a pretty cool guy eh" or "Let's legalize homosexual marriage***"
**I collect EVERYTHING Final Fantasy-related. I have the games, soundtracks, posters, foreign versions of the game (I even have FF7 in German, which I have beaten, not understanding anything).
***I'm not expecting that any pope will ever say that, but everyone has their dreams. Even if they are such unrealistic visions. Other people have normal dreams, like having sex with six hot women at once (while drowning in a gigantic milkshake sea and fighting enormous dairy-monsters, all at the same time).

In any case his avatar is Quinto from Heroes and soon to be known regularly as the guy who played young Spock. Not creepy.
Mine however, should be, as its a last adoption of a populist human figure, adapted to the impending and quite inevitable robot ascension. I'm not sure if your DNA encoded the proper mechanisms to fully appreciate it, but I'm assuming imminent obsolescence could be considered creepy?

I apologize to said poster, though, I meant no insult. I just thought that the guy in his avatar was creepy. I still do. I do not watch the show "Heroes," thus he is just a creepy, sinister looking guy to me.

Around level 85, but his Big Bang attack was brutal. I was probably around 82 the first time.

Ok, I bought it and I have been loving it so far.
Lvl 18ish.
This game gets a lot of love from me due to it being on a TV console and having full wide screen capabilities.
My largest issue is the moon cycles. They are an unnecessary distraction. Still the game is awesome so far.
