Don't know if anyone caught this. IGN has posted their Wii 2009 preview and under the fighter category they only have one game listed, a mysterious TMNT fighter.

| The words "frothing demand" get thrown around a lot 'round these parts, but there's no denying our . . . frothing demand . . . for Ubisoft's latest announcement, Wii's TMNT fighter. Developed by a team made up of ex-Smash and ex-Team Ninja staff, TMNT is set to bring a similar arena-based fighting design as Brawl did early last year on Wii. Little is known so far on this ambitious, movie-free licensed title, but we do know that the team is working to trump Nintendo's efforts in any way possible, and that includes Smash's lackluster online offering. First screens of the game are looking promising, as is art showing off each of the four turtles with the same red headband. Perhaps this game has more of a throwback, "timeless Turtles" feel to it than previous games? We can only hope so, as a TMNT fighter with a slew of fan service thrown in would make our inner fanboy squeal with delight. Remember kids: Evil moves fast, but good moves faster. |
Sounds very, very promising.
Ex-Smash and ex-Team Ninja staff working on the project?? I am SOOOOO already all about this.

April and Splinter better be playable.
I don't know how I feel about this. Turtles have been reimagined so many times that there will probably be a bunch of shitty characters in it that I don't know, or Shredder will look retarded, or God knows what else.

What this indicates to me is that finally Nintendo will use this as an excuse to put the rest of the TMNT games on the VC.

I'm surprised it took them this long to make this. Hopefully they use characters from the comic books and not just the Movies and television series.

If the fundamental gameplay is good, I'll play it.

I very much feel your pain on this one. I still love the old cartoon of the Turtles, and the first live action movie was alright, but I have no idea what to think about the franchise as a whole anymore.
I second the call for a playable Splinter. I've been wanting that in a TMNT game forever. However, as you fear with Shredder, I'm afraid the Splinter I finally get to play as will just not be good enough. (Lets be honest--the voice actor in the cartoon was effing perfect. At least I think so.)

I agree with the cartoon comments. Those are the turtles and characters I want to see in this game.

Why can't someone just make a decent TMNT beat em up with 4 player support? Hasn't that been what people have actually been begging for?

I have a sig because I was told to. Now leave me be about it. |

Mmmm 2-D Sonic... How I miss you...
Fun fact that comes to mind: Sony almost didn't allow Symphony of the Night to be released. They were pushing developers to make very short, pretty, 3D intensive games. If it wasn't for the couple of 3D effects that did get put in place, Sony was ready to can it.
One would have hoped this type of philosophy wasn't still followed so blindly...

I bet you that it still would have been on the Saturn though.
