Here it is. . . .
So, do you agree with it or disagree?

Well...it just says influential, not if it was good or bad influence(Though it words everything like it was good). John Madden Football eventually turned into a snoozefest bonanza of roster updates, FF7 took a crap on the RPG genre and influenced all the other RPGs to become CGI and have unoriginal plots and characters, DDR pretty much took over the last of the little bit of arcades out there and isn't showing any signs of giving it up, and Tomb Raider made everyone else give their video game woman huge and unrealistic knockers. Okay, last one isn't that bad but still....
It lacks Sonic too, which upsets me....very very much...

I think everybody on the forums would agree that #1 is reason enough to love this list, at least for me.

I thought that while not all their picks were the "best" necessarily, the did mention a lot of other influential games in the descriptions and paid homage to them in that way. For example. for WOW they mentioned Everquest, for Resident Evil, they mentioned Alone in the Dark, for Doom they mentioned Wolfenstein, and then a couple of the choices they mentioned Adventure for the Atari. While not perfect, I thought for an "Influential" list it was pretty good.

Oh, my God. I forgot about Sonic. I can't believe Gamedaily.
They also forgot about Smash Bros.

Yeah, you know the only way they would have mentioned that was to avoid a flood of misspelled comments.

I'll never forgive Cracked for spawning the great list retardation of 2008. It's getting to be a little much now.

That list was pretty good even though most were predictable. I would say Tomb Raider is very questionable though except for the shitty movies it spawned
Also how was Metroid influential? It was a great game but I didn't see a huge subculture develope from it.
These kind of lists I feel are pointless because so many people have attempted them.

Metroid was at the forefront of the sandbox movement.
Also, Myst? Fucking seriously?
Myst appeared toward the end of the point-and-click era, and can hardly be construed as influential. Sure it was pretty, but it was also stupid. There, I said it. Myst was fucking stupid. Myst was filled with obtuse puzzles that weren't even remotely fun to solve, and it was far less engaging than say, King's Quest VI.

Yeah Myst was boring. The books are surprisingly good though.

Wow... I must say that many of those games just seemed either good at the time, or what but I want to say if you have super Mario Brothers in the list already, there's no fucking point to have another mario game on the list, everyone just goes with it. DDR? Meh, never got into it and with Guitar Hero on the list it seems that they were going for peripherals rather then games.
Though, I gotta say no halo makes me a happy gamer!

I think Myst was awesome when it came out, but it has no lasting aging appeal to it nor is it fun to play today, which is the true measure of a great game.

i agree two marios is a little too much, but at the same time, mario showed companies how to do 3d platforming right.
prior to mario 64, games had 3d graphics, but no actual 3d gameplay like mario 64 employed.

I see your point, but I just realized something. What N64 game develop a genre that was only a PC genre up to that point? Why the fuck wasn't it put into the list since without it there would be no Halo for X-Box or TimeSplitters or even Resistance? Take a guess as to what I'm thinking...

As long as they are not in any order, I can agree with most of the list.
Except, I would change out DOOM with Wolfenstein 3D, since that was the game that influenced DOOM and every other FPS ever made. It was the grandfather of the genre, not DOOM. DOOM just took what Wolf 3D created and carried it to the next level.

I think I would go with Doom. I had already played (and enjoyed) Wolfenstein when Doom came out. But I do think it was the popularity of Doom that really helped kickstart the genre.
As far as the rest of the list goes, I agree with Syd about Myst. I get why they felt like they should put it on there, but I don't think the industry would be that much behind had there been no Myst. I also think Tomb Raider, as influential as it may have been, wasn't as influential as some other games that were left off the list.
I would lose Myst and Tomb Raider and replace them with something like Sonic and maybe a gun game like Duck Hunt. I think Gran Turismo might be a good one. It took the car racign genre and perfected it. But I do think if it hadn't been made, somebody else would have done it. Tony Hawk Pro Skater wouldn't be a bad honorable mention. Neither would Twisted Metal.

With the sole exception of Myst, every other game on the list earned its spot. While I'm surprised Mario Bros 3 didn't make it, since it set the standard for a truly improved sequel (along with Mega Man 2), this is still one of the only decent online top video game lists I have seen in a long time.
