^, curious on when you guys think it's alright for posts to be revived. A month? Two months? after they're not on the front page anymore?

Just curious.

It generally differs from forum to forum. A forum I went to would ban if a thread wasn't on the main page and was more then three days old, sometimes it's seven days, sometimes it's a month or two.

My opinion, which counts for nothing, is that there's nothing wrong with reviving an old thread, as long as you don't make a habit of it. In other words, I think it's better to add to an old thread than start a new one on the same topic. On the other hand, if you just post "bump" or "lol" on a thread that hasn't had a new post in months, that's ridiculous and pointless.

I'd say once a thread's gone even like 3 days without a reply, unless there's something new and relevant (For example, reviving a thread where someone was sued for something months later because they settled out of court, or the hearing is over or whatever) then reviving the thread is considered spam.

Three days!? Really?

I'd say after 1-2 weeks a thread is considered dead. After that point, don't revive it unless you have something meaningful to add to it.

And on the other hand, some threads beg to revived. For example, the Lost thread is currently dead, but it will revive once the show starts up again.

I think as long as it is relevant and new info and not "I played that too. Remeber when..." or crap like that, the time limit is a month or so.

But when in doubt, create a new thread and say you can merge the threads if you are wrong,

General rule of thumb is, when it's off the front page, it's too dead to revive.

Mileage may vary, however, depending on just how dead it is.

Here's how I figure it: Threads don't die, either someone makes a new one (the old one "died") and then everyone tells the dumbass that the thread has already been made or the thread slowly makes its way into oblivion, but doesn't die, it just becomes forgotten. I try to get in the habit of using the search function to see if a thread has been made and either resurrect an old one or make a new one. Though I'm pretty sure I'm guilty of making a thread that had already been threaded in the past. So, old threads don't die, they just become forgotten.

I hope not! I actually started watching Lost this summer and caught up on everything. It's already been difficult to wait for more episodes, especially until January! Ugh.

I usually don't touch threads more than a few days since the last response, unless I have some hot intel or an awesome joke, neither of which usually happen.

And I am quite disappointed that Michael Emerson's portrayal of Benjamin Linus was snubbed for an Emmy in favor of a guy on a show that bored me to sleep all three times I tried to watch it.
