So, according to some other toy store sites, they're actually available THIS YEAR (actually, THIS MONTH in some places). I'll keep my eyes open and ultimately spend way, way too much money on re-experiencing a relatively minor toyline from my childhood. But I got that pink (okay, okay, PURPLE) Madball the same year I got a Pound Puppy and My Buddy and guess which one I liked best? MADBALLS FOR LIFE!... or something.
