So, I was taking this online survey about movies, and one of the questions posed to me was "how many DVD's do you own in your collection?"
I was like WTF?! Honestly?! How am I supposed to know that. I dont count them. But looking over some of the movies I have, I really did have several WTF moments. By that I mean, Why The Fuck did I buy such-and-such movie?!
One example would be "the boy whou could fly." Why oh why would I ever buy that?! I mean, I liked it as a kid but its a terribly cliche movie nonetheless. I also have "joe's apartment." That skit was funny on MTV for 2-4 minutes but not as a movie.
So, I was wondering if anyone else has any WTF DVD's in their collection. Also, if they can try to recall the moment they bought it, that would be an interesting anecdote as well.

Mac & Me.
It's a shitty ET rip-off that has McDonald's product placement in lieu of Reese's Pieces that I saw once when I was a kid. I bought it used so that I could review it for the site, which I have yet to do.

well... it doesnt necessarily have to be about fucked up movies you might've bought, if you want to discuss your movie collection or your favorite movie in your collection, go right ahead. I wont discriminate or hate.

How many of you have multiple copies of the same movie? Because you bought it on DVD, and then 6 months later a better version is release so you buy that one too.
I have duplicates of:
LOTR Trilogy
Evil Dead 2
Army Of Darkness
Leon - The Professional

Rodan. I bought it for $5 at Walmart one day when I was really drunk. I don't remember how I ended up drunk at Walmart, but it was my college days...

Airheads- Pretty good comedy movie, a must have for Adam Sandler fans
Dawn of the Dead-The remake. I have no idea hy I own this
Destruction: Live Discharge-Awesome live video from one of Destruction's tours
Dio: Sacred Heart the DVD-I used to own the "Killing the Dragon" DVD but my Dad wanted this one so we pretended to lend someone else that one in return for this one and never returned it. I still haven't watched it.
The Fuccons-The first couple episodes, it's okay. Not really good for multiple watchings
Godzilla VS. Mechagodzilla-I don't even remember if I bought this or if I got it for my birthday, I like me some Mechagodzilla though.
Gremlins-All I have to say is Dee dee dee dee doo, dee dee dee dee doo
The Hitcher-I love the guy that plays the Hitcher, he just has this creepy aura around him in every movie he's in.
Kaiju Big Battel-First episode thingy. Pretty funny.
Metropolis-The anime remake. It's really good, if you ever see it somewhere cheap you should get it.
My Neighbor Totoro-Possibly the best movie ever. Buy it now.
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind-Second best movie ever. Not for people with short attention spans.
Near Dark-BEST. HORROR. MOVIE. EVAR!!!111 Seriously though, it's really good and possibly surpasses Totoro.
The Serpent and the Rainbow-It's alright, but I've only watched it once.
Seven Doors of Death-Second Lucio Fulci movie I've watched (the first was Zombie). It's really not good and I'd only recommend it for diehard Fulci fans.
They Live-One of my favorite movies. It was actually based on a short story.
Wolf's Rain-The first five episodes. A really great anime. If you can pick up the box set somewhere I highly recommend you pick it up.
Zombie- One of the best zombie movies I've seen. By the godfather of gore, Lucio Fulci.
Those are all the DVDs in my room. My parents have a couple that I like to consider mine though. Cat Soup and Bowfinger spring to mind.

I have too many DVDs to ever list... I know, I've tried on DVD Aficionado.
I have nearly 50 WTF DVDs. I'm a real bad social shopper. If you're with me at a store, I'll probably buy a movie, even if I only kinda want it or to be funny.
One such DVD is "Cadet Kelly", which I'm glad I ended up buying only because it got used as a quick visual gag in "Orko Party". The story behind the purchase was that I went to Toys R Us to see if they had any of the DC Direct Super Hero figures. Ten seconds after entering, someone's hands wrap around my eyes. Turns out my ex was working there. She offers to use her "discount" for me and the first thing I see was "Cadet Kelly". So I ended up buying it... Come to think of it, I don't think I've rewatched it from start to finish... Oh well.
There's a horror DVD Collection I finally got around to watching... mostly. It's some $5 anthology of 9 horror films from the 60s up to 1988. I bought it mainly for the film "Pieces" which I saw at a dusk till dawn five movie marathon drive-in a few years ago. "Pieces" is a strange slasher film about some guy with a chainsaw running around a college campus and chopping up some women, but what gives the movie its charm is the out of place humor. The lead actor reminds me of Screech and there's a really random kung-fu fight half way through the film. That actually makes me regret never buying "Mindhunters" for the not-as-random kung fu fight near the end of that film...
I never really watched the other films of the collection. I did fast forward through all of them this weekend to see if any would be worth watching. "The Demon" which is a 70s movie about some guy killing women looked interesting for two reasons: one, the finale involves the heroine running around topless and, two, she defeats the killer through some "Home Alone" style boobytraps. The other films might be worth mentioning later though.
I also own "Streets of Fire" (A Rock & Roll fable) which I hear is worth watching, but I've owned it for two years and still haven't watched it.

Yeah.... Most of my WTF DVD's are from drunken moments of impulse buying early Sunday mornings at the Best Buy. I have this 2-disc 'classic cartoon collection' that is still in its plastic wrap. Apparently it has old cartoons from the 60's. I see the old old school Superman on the cover so im guessing it has Superman cartoons lol but dont know what else.
Also, when you go to BlockBuster and you see used DVD's for $5 or less, there really is no reason to not buy movies. So, a lot of WTF DVD's stem from that too lol.

I have quite a few DVD's, but of all of them my favorite is Suburban Commnado. Best 5 dollars I've EVER spent in my entire life. I could spend 5 dollars to save my dying family from cancer and it wouldn't be as good an investment as this movie was.
I have some real pieces of shit that are a point of personal pride for me to be the owner of, classics that have even been on Mystery Science Theatre 3000 episodes, such as the award-winning Lazerblast.

Wal*Mart bargain bin, eh? I been there too. Aside from Suburban Commando, I think my favorite movie I ever got out of the bargain bin was The Adventures of Ford Fairlane.

Mine is still "Max Magician and the Legend of the Rings". Not a good movie by any means, but it was the film that proved to me that I really could make a better low-budget fantasy flick... and that eventually led to...

I once bought a used horror collection thing of 5 movies for $3. Me and my parents watched one of them that was just terrible. It honestly looked like someone shot the film in their backyard with a digital camera. The other movies were actually pretty good but my parents refused to watch them because of the first one.

BUMP... because of this collection i recently bought.
now, i dont know if its common knowledge or not, but im an impulse buyer when im tipsy. so, apparently i bought this on amazon recently. i only knew about it because of the email confirmation i received. it was a good deal apparently (normally $109.99, but i got it for $59.99)
i enjoy benny hill a lot, but i dont know when i would find the time to watch any of this. its still nice to have in my collection, but it was definitely a drunk buy. good thing i was coherent enough to put it on my credit card instead of my debit, otherwise i would be negative (lucky me)

I have a bunch of terrible movies in my collection right now, and I didn't even buy them. My mom's coworker's husband compulsively buys movies, and rarely checks to see if he already owns them. So he double-buys a lot of shit, opens them right away rendering them unreturnable, and then gives them to his wife to bring into work to see if anyone wants them, and my mom grabs ones she thinks I might be interested in.
Some of the "gems" I've been given include Alexander, Aeon Flux, Doom, Dungeon Siege, The Sum of All Fears, and Peter Jackson's King Kong.

Hmmm...For the most part, movies I buy are all classics that I already know I like. Ones I haven't seen I usually rent.
But I do buy a lot of those dirt cheap $1 movies at Wal-Mart by the checkouts. You know the ones with movies like The Boy in the Plastic Bubble, and Black Cobra I & II. They are usually hit and miss for me.
Other than that, I have a nice girl movie collection. It's stuff my wife thinks she wants, so I buy it and then she never watches it.
Oh, and I have the first season of Newlyweds.

My collection is quite small, since I hate collecting anything that has little replay value. I mean how many times are you going to watch "Old School" on DVD? Well I bought the damn thing back in 2003, I believe. Never watched it once. I recently actually sold it at some place for like $1, but that was far more than it was worth. I'd also keep buying DVDs if there wasn't such a hype for next generation shit that costs twice as much...but "oooh...look how CRISP the shit looks! I like my shit to look so sharp that my fucking eyes bleed." And since there's no trade in value for DVDs to Blu Ray, why would I want to buy all these movies that I already own? On top of that, why would I want to make the cross over if Blu Ray goes out or something else comes along?
The only DVDs I've been buying are the "Three Stooges" volumes which is the first time in history they've been released in chronological order, plus the Stooges don't seem like the kind of thing you'd ever care to watch in hi-def. Right now, I think they're closing out the Shemp years, so I'll soon stop buying since Joe and especially Curly Joe fucking suck ass.

I just got given a load of movies in those slip card cases that come free with the newspaper. I was plesantly surprized with a few of them - Time bandits, glen garry glen ross, santa claus the movie, the bounty and donnie darko. Do you get movies given away with the newspaper in the US?
