He wasn't exactly my favorite person, but I'm truly sorry to hear that this actually happened. Nobody deserves to be forced to that decision, and I wouldn't wish it on even my worst enemies.

If nothing else, it seems like this has galvanized a few of us into collecting back into a group. We've set up a group on Facebook for discussion, both concerning Hacker and in general (it seems that it's far more convenient than IRC anymore, so we've agreed to stay there, at least for now). Let me know if any of you are interested in joining.

I have no words right now. As annoying and trollish as he could be, I always had a soft spot in my heart for the kid. It's a damn shame that anyone feels that suicide is the answer to their problems. I've been close myself a few times. I just hope he has found peace, and that he's got a good internet connection.

I'm at a loss here as this is the 3rd loss I've cared about this year. I haven't really checked in on the forums as often as I used to, but I was really hoping that a thread like this would just lead to a sick joke based on circumstances that would make it just barely plausible. As things stand, I suppose it's worth taking comfort in the knowledge that he at least informed us of this, rather than leave individual opinions of him to sour from a lack of information or responses.
Now I've got something that I need to work on in Hacker's honor.
In the interim, does anyone else think his little tag should be changed into something other than "Banned?"
