Quick update.

The NES Drinking Saga, Part VIII is now up. In other news, Part II of the Mortal Kombat Fatality Fest has been up even though it’s not quite complete. It will, however, be done before the clock strikes midnight tonight. That’s midnight EST, not GMT. I feel it’s important to operate on Wall Street time.

I said this in an e-mail, but since discovered the comment section, and felt that it should
    be shared with the world.

You seemed to praise Kung Lao’s friendship where he tosses his hat for a dog. This is far
from friendly, for when the poor dog attempts to catch the frisbee, he will likely become
partially depacipated a la Family Guy. I suppose it could be friendly if Kung Lao’s
opponent is a sociopath, or that guy who’s high school girlfriend told all her friends
that he had a short dick, and then she joined PeTA and now he has an extreme grudge,
making him a bitter and small man…, no, I don’t mean small, like…, I mean small
    as in…, aw fuck it.

And let me point out that (at least in trilogy), Kung Lao’s dog is hit by an unseen car off screen. This horrible tragedy is followed by Lao shaking his head in dispair afterwards. This “Friendship” is hardly a friendship at all, it’s “Cruelity to Animals”. Shame on you, Mortal Kombat programmers!

Upon closer inspection, the dog does indeed whimper once he gets offscreen in the UMK3 version. There’s no car sound though. So presumably, it’s the hat that kills the dog and that is definitely pretty cruel. So both of you are at least partially right. I guess that’s what I get for listening to music while I was playing it. Anyway, the article has been revised to correct that oversight.
