You actually talk to people in Zelda II by pressing B.

So not only is the so-called 'Top Secret Tip' really obvious, it is Error.

Ha, I didn't even pick up on that. I generally don't think about what buttons I'm pressing on NES games. It's all muscle memory by this point.
