Well, keep in mind what some consider "common sense" is not necessarily common -- especially when you go beyond generalities like "be clean" and suggest what color tie, what kind of finish on one's shoes, and what kind of watch to wear. I'm certainly not saying you're wrong, but credentials will help readers trust you.
Discussing personal experience is great. Being able to say "I've done all of these things and have nearly always gotten the jobs I applied for" (obviously being qualified for a job is important too) or "at my company I hire people on a regular basis and these are the things my colleagues and I look for when narrowing down the applicants" will help gain that trust.
