I recently picked up this graphic novel, based on events in 2003 when a bombing raid devastates this zoo in Badghad where 4 lions make their escape and the events therein. Handled much like The Lion King or Animal Farm in terms of how communicating between the animals goes (though some humans show up near the end). It's written by the same guy who handled Y: The Last Man.

Definately a good book worth reading.
