thirty thousand million people clicking on the link eats just as much bandwith. if you were really considerate you'd have linked us to the original page that hosted teh picture, so the guy woudl at least get some hits.

As a webmaster, I do find hotlinking kinda rude, but at the same time there's no satisfying solution to it. You can basically either:
1. Add watermarks to all your pictures like IGN does. But that's fucking retarded and it ruins otherwise beautiful screenshots.
2. Disable hotlinking, in which case people will just reupload your images and take credit for making them.
I can't stand the first, and having tried the second, it's not much better. I've decided I rather just take the bandwith hit. Besides, it's better for my traffic ranking.
People are going to hotlink... there's no use being bitter about it.

I do the reupload, but I certainly don't steal credit. I don't give it either though.

I hotlink from my own site. I use the thing like my own personal photobucket.
I don't see any problem with hotlinking, considering it's mainly used for things like posting on a forum, which the images will only be temporary anyway. Because I hotlink, I don't mind people hotlinking from me usually.
on top of that, if the image is really interesting, you can always view properties and see what site it came from, then go check the site out. I think that's how I originally found sydlexia. That's also how I found jasonrivera.com, back before it sucked.

Ive been a fan of this site for a while...like a couple years, but out of sheer laziness never bothered to get an account to post...but now i have, so tremble at my wrath, and...stuff. I originated from good ol' Mass, but after a stint in the army have wound up in Louisville, KY, where i while away time as a prison guard at a women's institution (insert caged heat joke here).
