The Mario Land games were headed up by Miyamoto's mentor, hence the differences in styles.

Toe Jam and Earl would totally have to be on the Top Genesis list, if the list gets made.
So, I just joined this forum. I found this site a few months ago through a search engine that brought me to the Top 100 NES Games. I think this is the best site of its kind since Seanbaby.com. Good work!

Shinning Force 1 is awesome and so is 2, although I have played more of 1. SF and Phantasy Star are of course THE landmark Genesis RPG series, especially since there were few others.
Hey, thanks for the welcome! Rocko is awesome!

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?
How is it possible that being the Mega Man X nut that I am, I have never, ever heard that you could do this? I know about the Hadoken, and I always got the X-Buster upgrade in Flame Mammoth's stage. I knew this information from Nintendo Power. But for my life I never knew that you could get the damn thing from Zero after he dies.
Fuck me, Syd was right all along.

Maybe Top 40 then.
Top 100 arcade games could also be done. Hell, I could probably do THREE top hundred arcade games lists - one for the 70s, one for the 80s, and one for the 90s. |
I would be very interested in seeing that. It's kind of sad really, there aren't really any more arcades open anymore.

BTW, are you planing on doing a N64 list? because that system is awesome and I am open to contribute. |
I don't think there is any way to do a Top 100 for the N64. I think anyone would be lucky to make a good Top 25, max. The system didn't have anywhere near the game volume its older siblings had.
I think Genesis, Gameboy, and Playstation are the only other good canidates for a Top 100 list. |
ummm i think xbox or ps2 could easily have a top 100 aswell..i don't know where this new games are shite attitude came from, but its completely untrue. i love NES,Snes, gameboy,, megadrive games as much as anyone. but lets not dismiss the amazing games that have been made 1997- Present.

Since it's a Pop Culture website I am going to deem that This site really bases it's content, Article Wise, on the 80's and early 90's. Could be wrong, I am a Douche after all.

XBox might be hard to do a Top 100 list, PS2 would be really, really easy. But as it's already been said, this is a retro site and PS2, GCN and XBox are all too new to be included in the main site's content.

So what's wrong with masturbating in an arcade? I cant post comments in the news section for some reason. BTW rolling thunder 2 is just as wacky as the first so far, every considered doing an article on it?

I understand that totally..but i dont think an XBOX top 100 would be that hard. and yes a ps2 one would be really, really easy.

XBox had some fantastic games, as did Gamecube, but I think both systems would be better suited towards Top 50 lists.
To be fair though, I've only ever played about 25 games for the original XBox and I probably couldn't name more than 50 if you put a gun to my head, so I'm probably not knowledgeable enough about the system to make that sort of judgement call. It also means that if you see a Top 100 XBox Games list on SydLexia.com 10 years from now, that I completely pulled it out of my ass by looking up games on GameRankings.com.

You need to register for the news section separately.
I plan to review RT2 and the ill-fated RT3 at some point down the line, as well as the other two Streets of Rage games. But I want to get other stuff out of the way first.

I've looked through the top 100 SNES games and I'm now looking through the top 100 NES games list at the moment, and all the time I'm asking myself "Why aren't more of these available through Virtual Console?"
In particular I wonder why Chrono Trigger isn't yet available for the SNES, and why The Magic Of Scheherazade isn't available yet for the NES. (The latter's unavailability may be due to its rather long name, which I nearly had to copy-paste to ensure the correct spelling). Both games have interested me but I haven't yet seen them on Virtual Console.
Still, I thank Syd and all of the contributors to both lists for taking the time to do so, as it's helped me find a whole load of NES and SNES games that have managed to take my interest and made me want to play more NES and SNES.

Square is unlikely to release the Chrono Trigger for the virtual console simply because it can probably make far more money doing it as a GBA or DS remake.
As for the other one, Culture Brain doesn't do business in the US anymore, so it's unlikely. It was a pretty obscure game anyways.
