I've been playing a lot of Final Fight 3 lately. This has gotten me to go to the local Enchanted Castle and play X-Men. Then it's back to the Nomad to play Streets of Rage 2 and 3.
Man, I love beat 'em ups! They get me SO pumped! It's like watching "Deuces Wild", I just want to beat people up.
In my quest to find more beat 'em up games, I came across "Golden Axe". How I lived my life without playing this game, I'll never know. Gameplay is pretty weak, but who doesn't love playing as a Barbarian or as a hot Amazon she-male?
I'm starting to regret never buying "Fighting Force 64", but I do have "Rise to Honor".
Before I find a nice housewife to batter, what's your favorite "beat the hell out of everyone so we can advance to the next screen" game?

Guardian Heroes for Sega Saturn is one of my favorite beat 'em ups ever. I made a thread about it, but everyone ignored it ;_;
My other favorite beat 'em ups:
Cyborg Justice
Streets of Rage 1/2
Violence Storm (it's like final fight but 3 player and crazier)
Gekido (PSX)
Final Fight 3 (I'm all about Guy or Hagar)

If you like Beat 'Em Ups, it's hard to find a bad one. I would recommend any of the following games:
The Simpsons
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1989 arcade game)
The Golden Axe series
Alien Vs. Predator (1994 arcade game)
The Punisher (1993 arcade game)
D&D: Shadow Over Mystara
D&D: Tower of Doom
The Streets of Rage series
Cadillacs and Dinosaurs (the site's 404 page uses a screenshot from it)
Armored Warriors
X-Men (1992 arcade game)
Arabian Magic
The Legend of Silk Road
Ninja Baseball Batman
Pretty Solider Sailor Moon
The Double Dragon series
Knights of the Round
River City Ransom is kind of a beat 'em too. Either way, it's awesome.

I second the recommendations for TMNT and X-Men. Oh man, those games were my obsession back in the day.
My first ever NES game was TMNT2: The Arcade Game, which was the NES port of the former. I was always sad that X-Men never made it to the consoles, especially since the X-Men game for the NES was the videogame equivalent of being kneed in the groin.
I also liked the "Captain America and the Avengers" arcade game.

Did you just recommend the Sailor Moon game? Not that I'm closeted fan who wrote about the fear of persecution on MySpace or anything...
But what is this Ninja Baseball Batman?
I totally forgot the TMNT games. I LOVE those! I hated that first game for the NES, but TMNT II and III were awesome. Then it went on to the Genesis with Hyperstone and SNES with "Turtles in Time"... the latter being better than the movie.
I'd also like to give shout outs to the Power Rangers Movie for Genesis. Hey, who doesn't want to shout out "IT'S MORPHIN' TIME" and turn into a Super Sentai hero?

Yes, I recommended Sailor Moon. I'm not a huge fan of anime in general or Sailor Moon in particular, but the 1995 Banpresto arcade game is damn fun.
And this is Ninja Baseball Batman:
It's a 1993 Irem arcade game. Six items are stolen from the baseball hall of fame and the Ninja Baseball Batman are called in to find the items and defeat JADO, the mysterious organization who stole them.

Guardian Heroes has good beat 'em up action, it's kinda like a fighting game in a beat 'em up. You can do combos, special moves and magic attacks. There are also dodges and recovery moves. Basically, you have the option of just having a good time mashing buttons and kicking ass, or looking cool and kicking ass if you know all the little intricacies. Easy to pick up and play, fun to master.

the old alien vs predator arcade game is probably my al time favorite beat em up, followed by the punisher beat em up.
batman returns and the death and return of superman on SNES are also amazing.
oh yeah, and super double dragon is absoloutely incredibly rad.
