I was reading an article on the AP wire earlier about how the new cast members are making a notable difference on SNL. It mentioned, among other things, how Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell's rap "Lazy Sunday" has become a big hit on the internet.

One paragraph though particularly jumped out at me:

"[Kristen] Wiig already has a recurring character — a checkout lady at Target who couldn't be happier with her job, who races away from her register and off to the shelves to pick up each new product she spots.

I can't believe they mentioned that. The Target sketch is absolute shit. It's nowhere near as good as Toonces, Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer, Daily Affirmations With Stuart Smalley, or The Continental. It's not even as funny as those mediocre Gap Girls sketches. Hell, it's not even as funny as Molly Shannon.

Sweet, I got to diss Molly Shannon and Kristen Wiig in one fell swoop. I feel accomplished.

Oh, and if you haven't see Lazy Sunday for some reason, HERE IT IS.

I actually enjoy Bill Hader. (somewhat.)
But come on! a show where the only cool thing is a somewhat funny impression every once in a while? Doesn't do it for me.

Yeah, Bill Hader is cool. And Kenan Thompson is great anytime they need a Bill Cosby or Star Jones impersonation. But Darrell Hammond has been there for roughly 200 years and he's easily my favorite guy on the show, second only perhaps to Amy Poehler.

UCB is one of the most underrated shows ever and the folks at Comedy Central are total bastards for not releasing the second and third seasons on DVD.

I'm with Syd on this. UCB was incredible and anything involving any of those 4 is comic gold, like Crossballs!

UCB sounds like a great sho.

It's a Damn shame i didnt get to bask in it's humor.

To answer M M's question, amy is pretty funny for the most part

IMHO i dont think snl will ever be as great as it was from about '75-'92/'93
Granted the 1980/81 and the 1985/86 seasons sucked for the most part (again not meant to bash )

Is school girl (i cant remember that characters name) or or Rob Riggle ever going to be as great as Ed Grimley or Phil Hartman?

One more point

Is it just me or does lorne micheals seem kinda creepy and weird?
