Thought I'd share. 
I'm engaged to my girlfriend of 4 years. Some of you may have heard her voice as Sam's familiar, Zippy, in the Press Start cartoons.
We'll actually be getting married next week, but we're going to do some sort of ceremony thing in the Fall, once life gets a little less hectic for us.

I'm getting married next summer, I almost wish we would just "get it over with". which is what it sound like you're doing. The amount of planning is unbelievable.

Congratulations darkmaze. While I don't believe in marraige as a relationship necessity, it's a big step and I wish you and your wife-to-be all the best of luck in your matrimonial adventures.

I made a joke after congratulating him, which is exactly the same response that I would give if someone had told me face-to-face that they were getting married. I don't feel that I have to apologize for making a joke. As for those who choose to insult me after, I guess I should just ignore them and not defend myself in the future. I'm sorry to have "ruined" the thread, it appears that I should be accountable for other people's responses, so on behalf of myself and all the assholes around here, I'm sorry to have deterred from your wonderful news.

Actually, it'd be more appropriate to have Zippy and Dob, since I don't actually voice Lin-Ku; I just like him as an avatar. 
It is pretty fast, but we're doing a bigger celebration thing in the fall. We're thinking about having it in a movie theater. A traditional wedding, however, just isn't for us.

Thanks man! We're really not into the whole traditional wedding either, in fact our original plan was to have a pirate wedding. But the Mom's wanted traditional, so we compromised; traditional wedding (not in a church though, thank Odin) and a pirate reception. Should be fun regaurdless.
Are you two running off to vegas? or just doing a simple eloping?

A pirate wedding sounds fantastic! But since you can't do that, a pirate reception sounds like a great compromise. 
We're not doing the Vegas thing. A friend of my family's is a judge, and he was kind enough to be willing to marry us. It's not even eloping, since we're being totally open about how we're doing it, and our families are fully aware and supportive.

I could go either way on a traditional wedding.
Ideally, I want a wedding in some ridiculously awesome cathedral and then just as the priest is getting to the vows, Kiefer Sutherland (as Jack Bauer) busts in and starts screaming at me, something about nuclear weapons. I say I don't know anything, then I pull out a gun. Sutherland/Bauer shoots at me. I collapse to the floor, bloody but alive and then Bauer and his team drag me off for further questioning. Later, as I'm throwing out the squibs, Sutherland and I celebrate with a bunch of strippers. The wedding will of course be ruined, but maybe you shouldn't have slept with Bill, you stupid bitch.
