I intend to give a look at each program the network is now airing.

-Fastlane/Whip Set/Formula D/Street Fury. Axe these. I understand that these shows probably exist to appeal to people who'd spend more money on a vehicle than their home and/or the people who are dire fanatics of games like Forza and the Grand Turismo series, but I have no interest whatsoever in it.

-Training Camp. If memory serves me correctly, this is the 2nd or 3rd "sports game" show G4 has tried. Axe it as well. I really couldn't care about teaching some sports star how to play a game version of his profession, nor would I want to learn how to play like him.

-Cinematech. I like the show, it's been some help in deciding if I want to get a game. My one complaint is that when the show starts or comes back from a commerical, the Game's Info is almost totally masked by the TV Ratings bug

-Cheat! I liked it better when Corey Rouse hosted the show. Kristen Holt usually grates on my nerves. As for the show itself, other than seeing cheats verified, it really doesn't have much life with the existence of sites like GameFAQs.

-Happy Tree Friends and Friends. I'm fine with it. Even if it makes me laugh I still wince at least once watching it.

-X-Play. One of the few shows (if the only one) that actually has gotten better. Don't mess with it, it's great.

-Attack of the Show! I'm fine with this one too, though I miss Kevin Rose and wish it had a format more like the old US Screen Savers show.

-The ScreenSavers. The Canadian show Leo Laporte took with him. Due to the timeslot it's been placed in, I tent to either forget it or miss it entirely so I haven't seen that much of it.

-Brainiac. I like this one a lot. I even tried to find a recipe for that guy's exploding paste (to no avail).

-G4TV.com. I haven't caught this lately, but the female hosts just seem a bit more annoying to me now for some reason I can't pin down. I've got no other beefs with it, so with the possible shift in hosts, it can live.

-The Man Show. What has this got to do with video games? 'Nuff said.

-Anime Unleashed. While not quite relative to video games, anime goes hand in hand with them. Until I'm able to get Anime Network I've got no problems with it.

-Filter. I liked it when it was just a video game show, and didn't change the format to that of a Lifestyle show, trying to get me to buy things.

-Judgment Day. They usually give decent reviews. Tommy seems a bit juvenile sometimes, but otherwise I'm fine with this still on the network.

-Icons. This sort of thing is hit or miss as far as specific subject matter. However, I do like learning interesting facts about the histories of things like SNK and the Neo Geo. Thumbs up.

-Arena. I don't watch this show anymore, partly because I'm not that well versed in multiplayer PC gaming. My favorite "era" was the one with Wil Wheaton and Travis Oates.

-Robot Wars. This sort of stuff fell out of season about 2 years ago. Axe it.

-SpikeTV's VGAs and G-Phoria. Yes I know one is on another network. My point still stands true. Quit trotting out celebrities that have little to no business in this kind of medium, I'm looking at you Dave Navarro and Carmen Electra; as well as Anna Nicole Smith done up as Rikku *shudder*. I mean these things have a category for "Best Movie Game," but no Movie Awards show has a "Best Console Translation" category. And I remember there was one category on Spike's show for Best Female Character, and they had two members of the WWE, real people, as candidates because of a WWE game.

In short, it's starting to look like G4 is going to become to video games what MTV has become to music. And to quote Lewis Black (again) "KFC is to chicken as MTV is to music."

The only shows I really watch on G4 are X-Play (possibly the greatest show ever made), Icons and Cinematech. I used to watch Cheat, but I hate Kristen Holt. She may be pretty, but she's not as good of a host as Corey Roust. I hate the new "driving" shows and Happy Tree Friends just....disturbs me.

Cinematech- i like this show, i thought the "non themed shows" were better but over all good stuff

Cheat- corey was a better host but (when he was on) the show is wearing out its welcome when its one more than 30 minutes a day

Happy tree friends- while a great show, i think it should only be on late at night NOT for its awesome and violent content but because it has NOTHING to do with videogames

X-Play - this is a clunky, unfunny show that is at best a judgement day rip off, and at worse a complete steaming jar of horse piss. (i think its more of the latter)

Attack of the show - (See X play)

Brianiac- i was going to say "See happy tree friends" but this show isn't awesome at ALL nor is it funny Again; it has nothing to do with videogames, and its existence should be half an hour on late night tv IF THAT

G4tv.com- (WARING SEXIOST COMMENT ALEART) chicks (for the most part) know shit about videogames why should i have to watch a show with two butches and a pansy fruit talk about games they will never ever play? (to be fair geoff was KINDA COOL but he's not sticking around since the show is as dead as geroge burns)

The man show- My o my! this is the third show on my list not about videogames! Shows you how smart those guys at G4 are!

Anime Unleashed- EASILY the best non videogame show on G4 (sadly the show has WAY TOO MANY OF THESE but this one can stay just show it at night because it has NOTHING to do with videogames...except maybe .hack)

Judgement day- One of G4's is also one of its best Sad those fucktards who know shit about videogames killed the show

Icons- with one exception this show ROCKS but pencil and paper RPS have little to do with videogames

Arena- while a cool premise, it jumped the shark long ago when they said "Jump jets" about the 8,027th time

Robot wars- See brainiac

Now gentle reader.. you just might be asking "why didn't you list all the tech tv shows?" well most of them are crap and ALL of them have about NOTHING to do with videogames

I think the merger crapped up the show beyond repair

I dont mean to flame you larry, (nor anyone else for that matter) i just respectfully disagree with G4/it's core audience I kinda don't care if people flame me i stand by my review[/quote]

I fucking hate G4. I could go into my rant about Comcast's hostile take over of TechTV which resulted in a layoff of all the TechTV employees to only have a handful rehired, but after two years I'm really tired of going into that rant.

TechTV ruled. When I first heard of it, I knew absolutely nothing about it. It seemed kinda cool, so I became a regular fan. I quit watching it for a while and when i come back, tuned in to the same channel (354), there was some show about cars on. I believe it was about the time that X-Play was usually on so i got pretty pissed and was going to write a letter or something. Then I eventually forgot about it. This graph I made shows the decline of TechTV:

G4 has really lost it. I always thought they were supposed to be a video game channel and now most of their prime time and late night programming is random shit. I like a lot of the classic Man Show stuff, but it is the antithesis of what G4 was meant to be. If G4 wants to run non-video game shows, it should be sci-fi stuff like Dark Angel, Tru Calling, or anything else with an attractive female lead because that's what hardcore gamers want.

Also, Adam Sessler from X-Play scares me. Someone buy that man a neck. Please?

And now we've got Triumph and "Star Trek 2.0." It's at this point I'm tuning in to the channel just for X-Play, ST: TNG (If it's a good episode) or Cheat (if it's covering a game I actually care about).

Gah, I liked Adam Sessler back on Gamespot TV and Extended Play, but after they changed it to X-Play, they payed him to act like a jackass on TV. The show's really intolerable now.

I've never been much of a fan of Sessler. I enjoyed the show when he seemed to have a new co-host every two weeks though. The man looks 60 now... his hair is freaky. Shocked

I remember when I first watched G4 and I was amazed. I felt like it was made just for me. And now... this. All of you people have described what has happened, and I've seen it myself. The G4 to MTV comparison, I believe, puts it best. Why do good things always have to be ruined? Damn commercialism and society! =-=slams fist onto desk=-=

It's part of the world order that everything good must die and be bought out. I have no idea why commercialism has to be so evil though. Wouldn't it be more marketable to show the shows they intended to show and just show NONSTOP ADS running at the bottom of the screen the whole time? Okay, that would suck, but that was my idea for a channel.

I'm a bit confused. Are you comparing the fall of G4 to the demise of MTV? Cause MTV was always shitty and I don't think it possibly got any worse over the years. That's just me though. Rolling Eyes

Or are you comparing G4 directly to MTV?

The former. I used to like MTV. Popular music was better back then and at least they had some good shows. I enjoyed the video shows, Beavis and Butthead, MTV Remote Control, and some of the later stuff like Daria, Celebrity Deathmatch, Sifl & Olly (sp), and Jackass even. It just diminished to a point where I don't even try to watch new shows, because I'll see a commercial for them somewhere and have to hold back from putting my shoe (and foot) into the tele. It's not just MTV and G4 either... a lot of stuff is going downhill. I don't get to watch a lot of tele, but when I do, it's usually a good Nick cartoon, Cartoon Network, or Comedy Central.

When MTV's programming consisted mostly of ACTUAL music videos shown in their entirety, it wasn't a terrible channel. Of course, it was only as good as the artists they featured. If you liked the bands they showed, it was a decent channel. If you didn't, there was still Headbanger's Ball. That's when MTV died for me, when Headbanger's Ball got cancelled and lawsuits forced them to tone down Beavis And Butt-Head.

The only show on MTV I ever liked was Beavis and Butt-Head, but the music they usually played, on the channel in general, was just not to my taste. I had about enough time to watch 4-5 music videos, and as far as i remember they were all either very shrill and whiny or completely incomprehensible.

Also, I think Headbanger's Ball is still occasionally/frequently on MTV2, if you have it.

They resurrected Headbanger's Ball for MTV2 with a new host. And from what I've seen, they play pretty much nothing but loud hardcore bands that disinterest me.

In the classic version hosted by Rikki Rachtman, you'd get thrash bands like Slayer, hair bands like Poison, and power metal bands like Iron Maiden. You'd even get oddball bands like Faith No More and straight-up rock bands like AC/DC. It was also pretty much the only time they'd show videos by less radio-friendly bands like Exodus, Testament, and Motorhead.

As a complete non-sequitur, I would like to point out that Mistress Helga is, in reality, Sonya Blade in disguise!!

To be more accurate, she's Kerri Hoskins, MK3's Sonya.

I was always a fan of Yo! MTV Raps on mute. There are no skanks quite like rap video skanks.

Skanks are cool, but I always appreciated the higher end girls that they managed to get for rock videos:

Alicia Silverstone in the Aerosmith videos
Stephanie Seymour in Guns N' Roses videos
Bobbie Brown in Warrant's "Cherry Pie" video
Tawny Kitaen in the Whitesnake videos
Kim Basinger in Tom Petty's "Mary Jane's Last Dance" video
Carla Gugino is Bon Jovi's "Always" video

Well, I finally was able to pin down when G4 hit its true downward spiral:

"On September 19, 2005, it was reported by TVweek.com that former DirecTV executive Neil Tiles had replaced G4 founder Charles Hirschhorn as the channel's CEO. Also reported was a managerial decision to decrease G4's emphasis on video game coverage, in favor of a shift toward a male general interest programming format, reminiscent of Spike TV.

Beginning with G4's September 2005 acquisition of The Man Show, an alternative version of the channel's logo (featuring its website address in lieu of the slogan "Videogame TV") was introduced and used with increasing frequency. As of February 2006, the logo transition and program reformatting appears to be virtually complete."

"Also, due to CRTC programming regulations, some programs which air on G4 in the U.S. do not air on G4techTV Canada; those shows are instead replaced by Canadian-produced technology programming."

You had three show that was great on TechTv and probably the only shows.

UNscrewed
Call for Help
Nerd Nation/Icons

Then

X-Play- With Donald Duck and Perfect Breasts on a Cow. Where nobody could care about there reviews or scetches. That Pulp fiction rip off from FOX5 which is more trash in your face. Cheat, Man show reruns, and Whatever that show is with the blonde who got chocolate poured over her head. all are trash. If I wanted cheats I could just go to gamefaqs. If I wanted to see manshow reruns I could just go to my computer. If I wanted see ugly smoking blondes I could just go to the chocaoblonde house.

Now to be honest the only thing on G4 is the Feed. Which just scares people from using the internet the correct way.

G4 is not even a real channel anymore. It's like BET but based of the designated gamer. Nothing on it is cool and if you have it on your bill you are being robbed blind folded tied to a back of dynamite.

Nobody wants to watch bad episodes of Happy tree freinds which is free.
Nobody wants to watch Anime where 95% of the time nobody talks.
What worst about the Channel is what Channel is right next it. The Military Channel.
Think about the guy who has no job and flicks 175 then turn the channel in discust to the Military channel after checking Cartoon Network for Billy and Mandy.

The only real show left is Cinematech and that is a bunch of reruns of old Telivision Ads and gameplay. If I wanted to see mice looking women media people I could just order nude news or browse the web for Exposed pics and videos.

When I watch G4 or whatever I think of the noise you hear after fliping Baby bowser in Super Mario World II.
