I think you people are being WAY too anal about stuff staying on topic. First of all, 9 hours later isn't RIGHT AWAY, I'm sure at least half the forum members had read Murdar's thing by then. While I can't read mind, I figured that the post by Tish was basically a way to tell Murdar to just chill out. I mean, he DID say he was gonna kill himself because of the Wii and all. Maybe just saying that instead of being indirect would be better, but seriously just relax. Flaming and arguing is one thing. If you were hanging out with your friends and someone was viciously attacking someone else verbally no one would stand for it. But seriously, how often do you have a conversation where, when someone makes a random joke, you start swearing at them for not staying on the topic you were on? I get that this is a forum and there's many conversations going on at the same time, but people are going way overboard with trying to keep everything seperated in a tight little bubble.

Conversations evolve. They go from one topic to another. You CAN'T stop it. I don't care what you try to do, you're not going to get every post on topic. But I'm not saying don't try because it's impossible, I'm saying don't try because it's a silly idea. I like to see where discussions will go. There'll be many other topics running tangent to the original post, and it's interesting to see which ones people decide to persue. Sure by the third page of posts it has nothing to do with the original topic, but a newcomer who were to read the whole thread would see and understand how it got there.

Completely random posts such as "pony pony pony, yeah yeah, pony yeah pony" in the middle of a topic are stupid. The posts that people got upset about in this topic were not like that. They weren't "directly" responding to the original post, but because people WANT to find certain other members at fault they blow things out of propotion.

Conclusion? Unless someone throws Marty Pizza in the middle of a thread to be "funny" or the same forum member keeps steering every thread to the same topic, such as polititcs, religion, or the Hamburgler, cut each other some slack. Let the threads evolve as they will.

This was originally posted in another thread but everything it was referring to was removed from the thread, so I gave it its own. Unfortunately, without seeing what led up to it it makes less sense so I wish the original posts were still there, but oh well.

I'd just like to say I had thoroughly ignored the bullshit Tish had posted. I think that's the best way to deal with posts you don't like. Don't reply to them, just post as if they didn't exist.

I have no emotional or economic investment in any of Nintendo's products, nor have I since around 1995. I don't really care enough about it to purchase one, let alone kill myself over it. This is all obvious shit I'm re-iterating to prove a point though, and that point is, if people can't take a joke, then fuck 'em. Just ignore it.

Tish and JEW's comments have been removed for being inflammatory. As a general rule, I think Tish and JEW should ignore anything the other posts and never respond to each other, because everyone's sick of you two fighting. And for the record, while JEW is more vicious while helping to turn every thread into a flame ware, Tish almost always is the one to start shit. It's unnecessary and you two should really just pretend the other one doesn't exist. We'd all be happier.

The only problem with your comment Jeebus is that neither one of us has "attacked" each other in a few weeks... I haven't insulted JEW, and he hasn't insulted me (unless those posts were removed before I saw them)...

Maybe everyone could get over the <<< Tish & JEW >>> war and talk about something else? We've moved on from it, why can't you?

Maybe your attacks were against Murdar not JEW or something then, I couldn't even read the entire posts most of the time, but there's been a lot of fighting and we've been removing it. I can't move on from it because I JUST removed your posts before typing that last reply. Just accept you're largely responsible, get over it, and stop doing it, which goes for JEW as well.

Jeebus, I disagree with you to a point. You haven't really been around all that much lately. Maybe you're beind on reading posts or not following closely or whatever, but I don't think people are being anal about staying on topic. Yes, topics move around a bit, and I understand that, and I try to roll with it a lot of the time. There are times when the topic is veering into something that has NOTHING to do with the original topic NOT because it naturally got to that point, but because someone was a moron and decided to post something that is random/unintelligent/inflammatory and it's just not needed.

I don't know if you noticed this, but the forums have legitimately sucked for the last 6 months. People post random shit, hate on each other excessively and with malice, and what this place needed was for the mods to step up and do their damn jobs. That wasn't happening. I don't want excuses why; people have their reasons for not being around, but the fact is that they just weren't doing anything. You think Syd made me a mod for shits and giggles? He did it because he saw how shitty these forums were becoming and wanted someone who would actually fix things to do just that. And people seem to be ok with it. I think there is a lot less complaining nowadays than there was even a month ago.

The Wi topic was a clusterfuck from the beginning. Murdar posted something and it went off-topic with the next goddamn post. It's bullshit and it shouldn't be tolerated, and by me it won't, period.

Being the creator of the thread, I think I have some say in this; I don't really think it went that badly off topic, considering nothing Tish adds to the video game forum is expected to be of any value in the first place. On that note, I'd like to say that so far, yeah, I haven't had a problem with the modding. I had a problem with impartial bullshit modding and ninja editing, not thread creation / divison or deletion of flame posts.

As many people know there is a difference though between a post naturally evolving and going off topic... when it naturalyl evolves essentialyl you talk about an idea that affects the original topic, and it might evovle further where it talks about a new idea in regards to the one that someone just brought up that ultimately effects the originally topic.

but depending on the purpose of the thread trying to not just post random things in any given thread is a good idea.. because if you do it will inhibit a person's ability to share a certian idea or to get feed back.. and defeats teh purpose of a thread title....

Might as well say Random thread 1, random thread 2....

But that's not how it works.. Instead we title are thread with something like.. "A new game on PS2"...

so at least for some time you want to address that point, but it's ok to throw a joke in here or there, or go slightly off topic but finish the thread, and don't distract from the mainstream focus (by mainstream focus i simply mean what most posters are commenting on)... and by distract i mean don't drive it off some tangent by constantly posting stuff and encouraging other to post about random things and when enough people do it you gets off topic.. If a thread is dying down, and you don't want to start your own thread, go ahead and talk about whatever interests you, extensively...

however if it's still going you can post a small joke, or thought but don't try and derail it, if people are still interested in talking about it..

And it's fine to introduce a different but related idea into the thread that effects or offers similar insight as the thread is trying to convey.

Thread courtesy is a good thing, and i don't see (from what i read as i lurk in the dark waiting to nab innocent helpless women, so i can force feed them my bag of gorbonzo beans) that there is too much off topicness going on, that thread starters are annoyed about it, or that people discussing it are bothered by it... But in some cases i'm sure it's happened..

And you don't need to be conscoius of every post you ever make on here or elsewhere, just relax have fun, but if someone wants ot talk about something let them have their say too...

I think what he's saying is, if you look at the majority of BB's posts, he'll say his piece about how he feels about what other people posts, but he will say "back on topic", or "having to do with the topic". Not like some other people. I'll use Tish as an example because I just modded a post of hers. On the gym forum, people are trying to be serious and get good advice from people who know what they're talking about, and she's putting a picture of a kid pissin' on a wall. Fuck that shit; it's disrespectful.

You're doing the same thing I did, except louder, claiming that you're the saviour of the boards. I only point that out because you were one of those people who seemed sooo against stuff being modded.

Is posting a fake Nike ad of a kid pissing on a wall in a thread about the gym directly after someone uses the tag line "Just Do It" disrespectful? Yes. Should it be removed for that reason? No. Should it be removed for being off topic? No, as it was a joke replying to the post directly above it. Should it be modded for violating the general discussion's rule about offensive images? Yes, but that's not why you said you did it. Yes it should have been removed, but the ends don't justify the means, the means justify the ends.

Tish: The "fat cunt" comments get deleted flat out, if not by me than by whomever gets to it first. I also never said that you start everything, but in those 2 examples you gave you certainly did, and those were the ones that were fresh in my mind. It's not just you I've been modding, and I have been fair in what should be in here and what shouldn't, IMO. And yeah, you have ceased the JEW-bashing. But posting a kid taking a leak on a wall is borderline NSFW and it shouldn't be there. When I mod posts, it's not personal. When I don't mod posts, that's not personal either. It's all about when I get to them and if something's been done before I see them.

Jeebus: your modding being called out for being excessive and an abuse of mod powers was a completely different situation. You were targeting one or two people, you were locking threads and deleting posts if you were a) proven wrong, or b) just bored with the dialogue. There was nothing breaking the forums rules in most of the threads; you were just being a dick about it. I was against stuff being modded for no reason other than to amuse you. And I would argue that anything posted for being offensive, disrespectful, and NSFW is indeed something, if not directly, meant to derailt he thread because it's the POSTER'S RESPONSIBILITY to know the forum rules. What good is modding stuff if there are no consequence for the people (NOTE: PEOPLE, NOT PERSON) who keep breaking the rules. Modding isn't fucking sacred; people break rules, they get modded, life goes on. What's the big taboo about doing your damn job?

And as for being NSFW, if my IT guys from work call me down and ask why I have a picture in my browser of an underage kid pissin' on a wall, what do I say? "The pissin' is implied, but he's not actually doing it"? Yeah, that'll fly.

Also, as far as we know you are targetting one person. Almost everything has been deleted, not moved, and since you keep calling out Tish, it certainly appears as if you're targeting her. May or may not be the case, but I'd argue that you're abusing your powers as well since, now that proof otherwise is basically impossible, it seems you're hellbent on getting rid of her. That may or may not be true (it also may be true that she was the only one doing anything worthy of being modded, though we'll never know), but that's why we move posts to the mod only section. She is, however, the only person you deleted a post from and replaced with a string of swears aimed at them, however, which is inappropriate.

Do you actually read when people reply to you? I've clearly stated before that a natural evolution to an off-topic post is more than ok; it's when someone posts out of the blue and it's disruptive that it should be modded.

To my count I have modded 3 of Tish's posts, 3 of Murdar's, 2 of Bomberman's, and 1 of several people. And you know what they do afterwards, usually? They say fucking "thank you for explaning why you modded me and I'm ok with it". The people who bitch about it are the people trying to be disruptive. And I'm supposed to stop modding because those people aren't ok with it? Hell no; that's just ridiculous. And people bitched about your modding for several reasons, most of them justified.

And you WOULD know who is "worthy of being modded" if you opened your eyes a little more.
