The really go all-out with that remake as it seems.
I am a bit torn about either i am hyped or not because FF VII is one of my favorite games ever (probably my favorite RPG of all time) and how are you gonna improve on something that is near perfect to begin with but maybe that is just my lack of imagination.
On the other hand they fucked up KH3 pretty bad (at least in my oppinion) so it is possbile that FF VII remake could suck.
There is no evidence to support that theory though.

Oh, screw it.
I AM OFFICIALLY HYPED.

it was the best of times
it was the blurst of times

At the very least, the real-time battle system looks super cool. I will most definitely check this out, as I generally take up any opportunity to blow up giant monsters with a dude with a gun for a hand.

Duuuude I cannot wait. I just hope they don't butcher the sound track like the did for FFX.

As long as that is intact, I will be happy.

Not ashamed to admit that i already preordered the Deluxe Edition (only 6 months in advance).

I am positive that his will be the best game ever. Like, permanently.

That's roughly what people thought about the original version.

The new combat looks weird, but the graphics are beautiful!

Jesse and Biggs look so much cooler. Will we have to watch them die again?

Jesse and Biggs never had much detail in the original.

Unlike the other polygon character models?

Judging from the trailers, you can see that they expand the story a bit (by adding new characters/new scenes) but i highly doubt that they will change major plot points, like death scenes.

The other characters had better models in the battle sections. Jessie and Biggs never appeared in battle for some reason.

If you plan on playing the remake i would recommend playing the original first.
It will surley enhance the experience if you see the ground on wich the remake was build on.
FF VII probably didn't age all that well gameplay wise but the soundtrack, the story and the sheer scale of the game are still outstanding.
If you have any soft spot for old school RPGs you should really give it a shot.

Isn't this just the first third of the original FFVII? And you have to buy two more full-priced games to play the whole thing, that may or may not be released within the next decade?

I heard that too. Is it really going to be like that?
This could be bad, if the playtime of each episode is too short.
If they are around 10-20 hours each, you could call them a full game i guess.
Considering the production value of the game (how mind blowing the graphics are etc) i kinda see where Square-Enix is coming from.
Of course i would prefer a full game but maybe the episode approach will work out.

We'll see.

When Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode III was cancelled in 2015, my ever playing any part of the game was cancelled with it, having learned my lesson from Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. Those of you wanting a full remake experience may want to try the all-or-nothing approach.

Don't know how many parts it will be, but each part will be 40 hours.

Fair enough.
So in total it's just more FF VII for everybody.

I dig it.
