I just saw this and I really liked it and wanted to share it here. It chronicles the history of Super Mario Bros. speed running over the years, with information about all the runners and methodology behind perfecting the game.

Enjoy, all you weirdos like me who still check in from time to time.

I'll have to check this out soon. Speed running is pretty interesting to me (particularly if it's a game that I've actually played) and as an accountant mang, their love of details is something I can understand.

I definitely couldn't get into speed running myself, though. The occasional speed run to accomplish an in-game challenge is cool, but to truly dedicate yourself for this...well, I don't have the hours for it anymore.

That said, much respect is owed to those that perform at Games Done Quick (and similar venues) for charity.

Not Sure, I hope you've been doing well buddy!

Preng, if you have a love of details as they relate to video games, can I link you towards this absurd bit of awsome madness?

Ha ha ha, somehow I knew that was a link to pannenkoek's channel. I've watched a few of them and they're intriguing, that dude would make a good auditor!

If child me watched this in '96, I would have been all

As a computer scientist, that video makes me nerd out some kind of way.

Finally got around to watching the video in the original post. Pretty neat stuff, it is definitely interesting to see so many tricks that over time have been linked together to reach a faster time (for fractions of seconds! - for better or for worse, the zeal is real for this game).

No way I could personally dedicate so much effort to just complete a game faster, though.
