Maybe we should open a Discord or something. It's kinda like IRC if you try to use it like one.

I'm not a bad enough dude, but I am an edgy little shit. I'll do what I can.

As much as I and others complain about this place, I'm at least grateful that Syd pays the money every year to keep the site (specifically, the forums) up.

I agree. domains are fairly inexpensive at around $15/year and hosting is about $100/year so it's not a huge expense, but I still appreciate the fact that he still pays even if he is neglecting it at the moment

I know I haven't been active here in over two years (it feels like longer, somehow), but I agree wholeheartedly with this. There are some great websites that I can now only access through the Internet Archive, and even then a number of them have now disabled such access. I don't know why, unless the authors actually don't want people reading their stuff.

P. S. Syd, if you're reading this, please don't render this site inaccessible to the Wayback Machine if financial costs force you to let the domain expire. There are some great articles, and a lot of good stuff on the forums (including my newbie question about specialist wizards http://www.sydlexia.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18260, which is still on the first page of Google searches thereof) both funny and helpful.

Man, it's been a while.

Let me just say it's been a really busy few years. I graduated from college in spring last year, and then started graduate school immediately after. I'm working on obtaining a doctorate degree and I'm currently a moderator for the Homestuck + Hiveswap Discord Server, which just got over 10,000 fucking people on it literally this week. The HSD takes up most of my internet time, and has essentially become my new home in that sense.

I think about this place and all the people on it a lot though. If you were to establish a Discord server of some kind, I would join it in a heartbeat. Hell, I would gladly help set it up. If you're still there and happen to be reading this, I miss you guys.

https://discord.gg/homestuck is where you can find me literally 99% of the time. Stop on by if you feel like it, we're a nice crowd.

CAMWIN IT FEELS LIKE IT HAS BEEN ONE MILLION YEARS SINCE I SAW YOU. I still fondly remember getting Planet Sub with you back in fucking, like, 2013? God damn. What a long few years it's been.

I'm still doing rotations so I'm not in any official department yet, but my projects are all about plant science. I've been working extensively with plant and plant-related organisms on a microbial/molecular level, so lots of DNA- and protein-related projects. Two rotations down, in the middle of a third, and then a fourth to follow before I'm placed in a laboratory for good.

What are you working on dude?

Same here. It would kill me to see this place shut down after being here so long.

I was reconnecting with a friend and noticed he converted several of his black concert shirts into a quilt. I gotta say, that's pretty neat! Definitely forced a reread of A Tribute to the Black Concert T-Shirt article.

Honestly, I think that's my favorite article Syd ever wrote. Certainly its the one I re-read the most. I don't know why I like it so much--maybe its just the stories and enthusiasm from so many great concert experiences.

The notion that someone wouldn't wear a t-shirt in public because satan was on it is hilarious. Unless you wear concert t-shirts to job interviews, I sincerely doubt anyone cares.

I infrequently check this site but it's good to see everyone's still kicking. I've been working in the Colorado weed industry for the last 5ish years and it's been a lot of fun. I really miss yall. Come idle in the IRC channel with me. I refuse to remove it from my MIRC settings.

A discord would be neat!

We've had one for a couple years now, and it feels just like being in the IRC circa 2012: Next to no talk whatsoever. xD

But come on in anyway!
