Your Top Rap Albums Pre-2000 and Post-2000

This is a thread where rapheads can post about their top 5 (or 10) albums for two periods of time: (1) Rap before the year 2000 and (2) Rap after the year 2000. So 10 (or 20) albums altogether divided and grouped by time period. This is the format it should look like:

Best pre-2000? Easily Ready To Die by Notorious B.I.G. Greatest hip hop album period.

Post 2000? Probably gonna go with The Marshall Mathers LP by Eminem.

I do not listen to rap extensively at all, much of the backing in most rap sounds just bland anduninspired to me Sad
However I stumbled upon an excellent group called The Sound Providers, and they're awesome. Really jazzy, easy to listen to rap. I suggest their album titled An Evening With The Sound Providers. I believe it was put out sometime around '07

Harder for me to pick Post-2000's because SO many great albums/mixtapes have come out alone just within the past 5 years.

One I always listen to is Tech N9ne's K.O.D. It's dark as all hell and has some amazing features.

Kool Keith. His whole discography blows away anything I have seen posted here so far. "The Personal Album" is pretty amazing.. "Matthew", " Dr. Octagynecologist", the list goes on..

I love DJ Shadow. He actually lives near me. Check out Bombay the Hard way sometime if you like DJ Shadow.
