Many of us have fond memories of Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. Nickelodeon had such great shows as Ren And Stimpy, Rugrats, Hey Arnold, All That, Rocko's Modern Life, Kenan And Kel, Cat Dog, The Angry Beavers, etc. Cartoon Network had shows like The Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Lab, Cow And Chicken, Ed, Edd n Eddy, Courage The Cowardly Dog, and more. Nickelodeon obviously had the edge in live action shows, but many kids were introduced to the joys of anime with Cartoon Network's Toonami. I honestly can't decide between the two. Both were a huge part of my childhood.

I don't even remember which shows were on which channel.

The first half of the 90s definitely goes to Nickelodeon while the second half definitely goes to Cartoon Network. I ultimately chose Cartoon Network though because by the end of the decade, I just wasn't watching anything on Nickelodeon. Also, it's a total cop out to have an "I can't decide" option for the poll. You need to force people to choose, damn it.

I remember thinking Cartoon Network was really grating as a kid. I didn't like the humor in most of the shows. Mind you, Nickelodeon also had a lot of craptastic shows (Rocket Power is the first one that comes to mind), but it had more good than bad. Early to mid 90s Nickelodeon had Salute Your Shorts, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Rocko's Modern Life, Kablam!, Wild & Crazy Kids, Legend of the Hidden Temple, and All That, while late 90s Nickelodeon had Spongebob Squarepants, Kenan & Kel, and Invader Zim (I think, it may have been later), so I definitely found it superior.

Maybe it is a cop out, but many people honestly can't choose between both. I honestly could never decide which I loved more, because I loved both equally. For me, it's like choosing which of your children you love more; I just can't do it.

I'd give it to Nickelodeon just based on the first half of the 90's. That half is easily better than the 7 years and 3 months of Cartoon Network's offerings in the 90's.

Cartoon Network. My childhood memories of Ed, Edd 'n Eddy are too precious.

Although I do appreciate older Fairly Oddparents and Spongebob a lot. Those three shows are pretty solidly stuck in my head.

Yeah, seasons 2 and 3 of SpongeBob are fucking hilarious! I'm also fond of Ed, Edd, N Eddy and Fairly Oddparents, before Poof.

I chose can't decide because in the early 90's Nick was the shit, Are You Afraid of the Dark, All That, and all those kick ass game shows, but it really fell off in the latter half and Cartoon Network really took over for me, mostly because of Toonami, Powerpuff Girls, and Dexter's Lab. Only really watched Nick for All That after 95 or 96. It ends up being a toss up for me really.

I made this list to prove a point of how much better Nickelodeon was in the 90's compared to Cartoon Network. It should be noted that listed below are ALL of the original Cartoon Network series and an INCOMPLETE list of original Nickelodeon series. There was also quite a bit of old stuff that was aired on both channels, which I left out.

90's original Cartoon Network programming

The Moxy Show
Space Gost Coast to Coast
What A Cartoon!
Dexter's Laboratory
Johnny Bravo
Cow and Chicken
I am Weasel
The Powerpuff Girls
Ed, Edd n Eddy
Mike, Lu & Og
Courage the Cowardly Dog

90's original Nickelodeon programming

Aaahh!!! Real Monsters
The Adventures of Pete & Pete
All That
Animorphs
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
CatDog
Clarissa Explains It All
Double Dare
Doug
Eureeka's Castle
Nickelodeon Guts
Hey Arnold!
Hey Dude
Kenan & Kel
Legends of the Hidden Temple
Nick Arcade
The Ren & Stimpy Show
Rocko's Modern Life
Rugrats
Salute Your Shorts
The Secret World of Alex Mack
SpongeBob SquarePants
What Would You Do?
Wild & Crazy Kids
The Wild Thornberrys

I can't believe I forgot to mention Nick Arcade, Clarissa, Wild & Crazy Kids, pre-Disney Doug, and Pete & Pete. And OH MY FREAKING GOD I forgot about What Would You Do? That show kicked ass. I loved the Wall O' Stuff, they never had anything cool come out of it but I always kept my hopes up. Wasn't big on The Wild Thornberrys, though.

Fun fact for anyone who remembers the balls-to-the-wall American Gladiators rip-off, Global GUTS: The referee chick, Moira Quirk, voiced Elly in Xenogears. Surprised

Pete and Pete alone is better than anything that aired on Cartoon Network.

Nick all the way. I was a huge fan of Hey Arnold, Doug, Legends of the Hidden Temple and Rocko's Modern Life when I was a kid. The CN stuff was okay, but Nick was where it was at.

This reminds me of the classic joke.

Pete and Repeat take turns fucking you. If Pete just finished, who gets to fuck you next?
