Trying a 3 hearts, no continues run on Ocarina of Time. Just made it to the Water Temple. It's actually really fun, because of the increased challenge. However, not collecting all the heart pieces requires self-control. The collecting compulsion is strong.

Loved that game, atom, but trying to play through it again felt like a chore. Seems a lot of JRPGs are that way for me. I just can't stomach the thought of button mashing through dialogue I've already read for 40 hours. SUCH good memories of that game and other JRPGs though.

Yeah, I feel the same way the more I replay old RPGs. Probably doesn't help that I don't have as much free time as I used to.

That seems like it would take away the point of playing the game. Why not just watch a playthrough for the story at that point?

I own SaGa Frontier, but I've never actually finished it due to never quite being able to get a grasp on the convoluted battle system.

The Evil Inside for PS3.

Kind of repetitive, but getting more fun as I go through it.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

Most of the codes I listed are the kind that add new gameplay elements or make existing aspects of it less boring/annoying, so if anything they give you more of a reason to play it. Whenever I use game genie/gameshark codes, my intentions aren't exactly to cheat; I prefer codes that have the potential to add more to the gaming experience.

For instance, codes that change mystics into half-mystics makes them more worth having in your party now that you can add an extra spell or even a tech to their abilities lists. Codes that change the battle rank basically allow you to adjust the difficulty of the battles making it a lot quicker to ramp up the challenge. Ever wanted to buy Gozarus' items in Riki's quest? Ever wanted to play as Alkarl? Ever wanted to have Red in anyone else's parties other than his own? Ever wanted to fight the Earthdragon more than once in a playthrough? Now you can with all these codes.

Say whatever you want, I'm having loads of fun with these codes.

Dark Souls for PC. I remember hearing a lot of people complaining about the port being awful, but so far no complaints. It's really nice going through the game a second time and realizing how much I've acclimated to the fighting system. I died so much more frequently my first time through, this is a satisfying change.

Speaking of ROM hacks, I played a hack of Super Mario World called The Lost Adventure Episode III. The fun part of these hacks isn't necessarily the level design or ASM gimmicks, but working out all the references to other games in the custom music and graphics.

My friends and I are going through this game once a week and every time we come back to it, there's always something to surprise us.

Last time we played, there was this underground level that involved going over lava, and it also had a Yoshi. I'm pretty sure no Super Mario game with Yoshi puts him in the same room as lava due to the possibility of throwing him into the lava, which one of my friends did. I legitimately screamed when I saw it because it was horrifying to watch him slowly sink into the lava and die a slow death, and I'm positive that if it were possible in real games then there would be memes of it. We guilt him over it any chance we get now. In short, 10/10 ROM hack and we're still not finished with it, but we think we're getting close to the end.

Any fans of horror and/or point-and-click adventure games need to check out Theresia on the DS. It's just been sitting on my shelf for over a year now and I just got into it earlier this week; I'm actually amazed at how intense and creepy the atmosphere is despite being on a DS screen. Creative story, lore, and clever puzzles, too.

Still working on Dark Souls PC, but I recently had a friend buy and play Resident Evil 4 with me all the way through. It was a delightfully unique experience, I never realized that game was so outrageously campy. I can't wait to do something else like that, it was very fun.

I've also been sucked back into World of Warcraft part time. I can't bring myself to play it alone, but with friends it's actually really enjoyable.

Bought the revamped RBI Baseball 2015, PC version, because it was on sale on Steam over the past weekend. So crappy, yet so, so damn good. I love it, and I don't care.

I finished Freedom Planet twice. It's really good and totally worthy of being called Sonic 5. I'm just holding out now for more story modes and characters.

I actually like the dodgy voice acting, even though Carol's voice is grating and the audio levels are all over the place. It really fits the whole motif of it being like a lost Sega Saturn platformer with a dub that has that authentic 90s localization dub sound. Aside from that, it feels like a mix between Sonic 3, Shantae, and Cave Story. Milla even kinda looks a little like a Mimiga.

Finished Dark Souls, stupidly decided to do New Game +. Also back into Civ V, Minecraft, and playing a shit ton of Agar.io for some reason. It's addicting, I can't stop. It's so infuriating now too because people won't stop forming teams even on the free for all servers and shit.
