You said yourself you never plan on having kids. So, you have no right to tell anyone with kids if what they're doing is right or wrong.

Of course common sense and decency apply, but just because a parent left their kid in their car when they went into Wal-Mart or wherever doesn't mean they're a bad parent. It's not like they were beating the kid.

All right, everyone. Swing that judgemental pendelum the other way. Imagine you have a kid, think about all the obligations you're putting on yourself, all the compromises you're making, and all the obligations you want to put on your friends and family. Think about that.

There's no fucking winning with kids, if a parent let their kid win every battle, you'd say they're spoiled. If they left the kid at home, they'd be irresponsible (really, what's a kid going to do at home for an hour? Really. Let's be logical here. If you're a responsible human you hid all the shit the kid could use to hurt himself). If they take the kid into the store screaming and crying, they don't discipline their child, but if they leave the kid in a car, they're neglectful.

Stop pointing the finger, and put yourself in the parents shoes.

I don't want kids, I've thought about all the ins and outs of raising a child, and I realize it'd be a pain in the ass. I want everyone else in this thread to think about all the obnoxious kids you see, and really think what it'd be like having to take care of that kid. Don't say you'd be willing to put up with all the bullshit, and do all the right things, because you wouldn't. Would you always pay a baby sitter $20 to watch a kid at home for an hour? Would you always shovel your 40 pound obligation on your friends? Would you always make sure your kid was properly disciplined? No, you wouldn't. You wouldn't be a perfect parent, so when someone has to make a compromise and leave their kid in a car for thirty minutes, don't write them a note. That is fucking arrogant.
