reading thru sabotage times i saw an article about flipbacks. apparently its a new type of book. well, not entirely new, just a new type of printing/reading books.

from the website http://www.flipbackbooks.com/
Quote:
The flipback is a new kind of book, which opens top to bottom and has sideways-printed text, so you get a full length novel in little more than the size of a smartphone. This September, six new bestselling titles are to be given the flipback treatment - What I Loved by Siri Hustvedt, Bad Men by John Connolly, Little Face by Sophie Hannah, Mister Pip by Lloyd Jones, The Bone Collector by Jeffery Deaver and Brethren by Robin Young.

personally, i think this is stupid. considering that The Kindle & other eReaders exist. and aside from that, Kindle is available on iPhone, Android, & Blackberry. so, basically, feels unnecessary.

That and if you have a borders closing near you , you are able to get a Kobo for 50 or less dollars, and it is still supported by the Kobo website and or it is probably possible to side load it with kindle software if you really wanted to

I didn't think people still bought books.

Seriously, that's one of the worst ideas that I've ever heard. Just go digital, save yourself printing/binding/shipping/leftover stock buyback money and put a little more into advertising, maybe.

Or, get every reality TV program cancelled. People might read more books then.

I still buy books, a collection of pdfs or epubs or whatever don't look as cool on the shelf. They are more durable than a reader, I hate staring at screens because I do it all day for a living, ereaders don't have that new book smell, I can't utilize an ereader in an emergency where I'm out of toilet paper and there are no phone books around This Is A Joke

I totally see the points behind digital distribution but I'm sticking with dead tree format.

the only thing i like about books, is that its easier to find a page than it is thru an ereader. if you are looking for something specific but cant recall exactly what or where, its easier to skim thru a book than an ereader. but thats just me
