Can I get extra time? I have been busy.

Also, the game is really frustrating me, due to having to use the NTSC speed instead of the PAL speed, which I am more familiar with. (PAL is slightly slower, and happens to be what they use in my region).

Actually, is there a rule against using PAL speed? (In VirtuaNES: Options > Game Options) I guess there would be, but I would like to play with this speed, since I first played the game with PAL speed.

Can you switch between the two speeds mid-game? If so, then sure, you can play on PAL.

As for extra time, how much extra time?

Yeah, these runs don't have to be perfect, guys. It really shouldn't take too long to pass one World.

Question that's probably already been answered somehow: I understand warps to the next level aren't ok, but how about within levels? Like in Worlds 1 and 3, there are doors you can find that transport you behind the boss battle and then you just jump up to get to them. Are we allowed to use those?

Three days extra at the most, hopefully.

Actually, do I have to send in four runs? I've done two, and I don't think I can get more lives at the end than what I have got in my second run, since the majority of 1UPs I can get are from the 'Bonus Chance' screen, which is almost entirely luck based.

Oh, and you can switch between PAL and NTSC ingame, and while watching the VirtuaNES movie files. Why?

No, dummy. All you need to send is the save state at the end of the run of the character you were assigned. You only play once. With the character you were assigned.

You make and post the movie yourself, you don't send it to me.

The "4 runs" is the 4 people doing World 1.

Really, is this that hard to figure out? I thought I was pretty clear.

As for the region, the only difference between PAL and NTSC as far as the emulator is concerned is speed.

Okay, I'll send in my savestate soon. Also, the save state is at the character select screen of World 2.

Please get it to me as soon as you can, Satire.

MellowMeek, you're being conscripted to do Snesguy's Toad run. Please get it done quick.

Once I have all the save states we can upload videos and send them along.

The savestate is away for the next four. You have 5 days to send me a savestate at the start of World 3. If you don't have it in your e-mail, bother me.

Nice work to the first worlders. You got 5 days to get a video uploaded, if you're in need of help, just ask.

BeachBum finished with 7 lives, and got his in first, so it's his state. MellowMeek got his in with 7 lives too, but such is the fate of the backup.

I probably should have said this - my email address is usagisatsui at yahoo dot com.

Good job BeachBum Smile

I really enjoy fighting Mouser(the bomb throwing rat). I also stumbled onto a few random parlor tricks in World 1 as a kid. My favorite is right after going through the first door in 1-1 pick up one of the veggie things, while running, throw it at the enemies. It'll hit one or two, I forget how many, and end up back in your hands. No telling how I figured that one out Razz

Can't wait until it gets to me and World 5 Smile

RIP Hacker

Well played.

And to answer your question about the potion in 1-2, it's there because you can take it all the way down to the end of the row and get coins. You can draw coins from the first two potions you use. After that, you can still get mushrooms, but no more coins.

But I know you rated yourself a beginner, and keeping that in mind, good job!

Came here to mention what Tomdincan already said. Very nice work!

Random trivia - the Zebra Mask that lavalarva collected in his Kirby Super Star video turns out to be a Phanto, the super stalker mask enemies in this game. Pretty cool!

Here's my SMB2 World 1 Luigi run, since BeachBum posted his World 1 Mario run.

Note that the game is running in PAL speed, as that is what I first played the game with. Don't call me a cheater for this.

If you though that was bad, the music for the Sonic games on the PAL Sega Mega Drive REALLY blew donkey nuts.
However, the music tempo on a real PAL NES is almost the same as the NTSC counterpart is, but the gameplay is still slower.
