Once it bombed and Yokoi was exiled in shame, Miyamoto and the top brass at Nintendo sanctioned his murder. True fucking story.

I miss GodofHardcore. More entertaining than Vert1.

I went into a GAME store just to look at WiiU when i was out last night.

I was actually appalled at the prices of the games. The prices won't mean much out of context to you USA folk so i'll make comparisons.

£20 - a platinum PS2 game back in the day/older current gen games.
£30 - the price that most new PC games retail at today on release, few current gen games come in at release at this price e.g. Rayman Origins for PS3 i bought for £30.
£40 - basically the highest that any console game will be sold for on release (Wii, PS3, Xbox 360). Very few games sell for more than this - the only games i have seen are Call of Duty which sell at £45 and after a while they come down to £40 and generally sit there.

and at the top of the list:
£55 - All WiiU games. ZombiU, Raving Rabbids etc.

The price is absolutely astounding. To convert into dollars £55 is like $90 for one game. I know you can't really fairly do this comparison but when i said this to Woodzy he said that the games in the US retail at normal US prices $60.

So why is it fair that we get charged £15 more for one game while you get them at the same price? - Yes i have resorted to the "it's not fair" argument but it is bullshit. To put this into perspective: i have visited game stores through like 5 generations of consoles and i have NEVER seen a single game sold this high unless it had peripherals like Guitar Hero.

This has honestly put me off the WiiU for a good while.

Though if i may suggest one reason is that the launch of the Wii U in the UK was supposedly disastrous.

Yeah, that is pretty bullshit.

Wii games were $50 max, PS360 games are $60 max. WiiU games are $60.

So in the US, NSMBU costs you the same as Halo 4.

I wouldn't have bought WiiU if the games were going to cost me $90. That's retarded.

Then again, SNES games could cost as much $69.99 back in the day, and adjusted for inflation, that's probably at least $90 current day.

I could only imagine what the Japanese cost for games will be. With the possible exception of Australia, they're far and away the most grotesque as far as pricing tiers go. Games that consist of nothing but porn can go upwards of $100 US!

I heard that games were cheaper in Japan in USD, and that if you knew a Japanese resident, you were better off importing Japanese copies of games than buying US ones, whenever the language barrier wasn't an issue.

Sticker Star is damn fun.

It is. It took me a few levels to get into because it seemed a bit repetitive and I almost bailed on the game, but the fights against tough opponents or bosses have been really good. I also like the difficulty level. It doesn't hold your hand every step of the way, but I never feel stuck. At times I've had to do a bit of searching for something I missed (finding the striped cactus, for example), but figuring out a problem is rewarding. I think adding some more RPG elements would have be nice, but that's not a huge negative for me. I'd recommend it.

I like that both sticker management and coin management are issues. It makes the game surprisingly challenging, especially since there's no leveling system.

http://uk.gamespot.com/news/nintendo-blocking-18-wii-u-content-in-europe-until-11-pm-report-6401246

This better not be true and only a rumour.

Quote:
Systems in Europe prohibiting users from accessing eShop for games and trailers rated PEGI 18+ between 3 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Nintendo of Europe is blocking Wii U content in the region that is rated PEGI 18+ between the hours of 3 a.m. and 11 p.m., according to a Eurogamer report. Under these stipulations, the four-hour window of 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. is the only time users can purchase games like ZombiU or Assassin's Creed III or even view trailers for such games.

The story originated from a NeoGAF forum user, which reportedly received an email from Nintendo saying the following:

"Dear customer, we would like to let you know that Nintendo has always aimed to offer gameplay experiences suited to all age groups, observing carefully all the relevant regulations regarding content access that are present in the various European countries. We have thus decided to restrict the access to content which is unsuitable to minors (PEGI) to the 11 p.m.- 3 a.m. time window."

Eurogamer has since verified the claim. It received a message stating "You cannot view this content" and "The times during which this content can be viewed have been restricted."

Nintendo has yet to comment on the matter.

The Wii U seems to be really for people who just like easy to pick up games that require a very small learning curve.Nintendo has that market down pat. Its probably fun to break out at a party or if u have a girlfriend/wife/kids to play it with as everyone always love Mario type shit. However, I wouldn't buy it if I were a single guy. There is no epic title on it yet and will probably be two years and a price drop before I would consider even getting one. You would also probably be PC gaming or playing the 360 more over the Wii U in total gameplay hours in a months total time unless you just breath Nintendo's farts all day. I think it will be good eventually, but by then Sony or M$ will have their new crap out that will probably have the titles you actually will play all the time. The Nes was my first system so I love Nintendo, but they are just recycling the same old BS each generation and giving a new kick. Give me like 10 epic platformers and I will come crawling back.

I have found myself really pissed off at gaming lately, besides Skyrim I have yet to find a "new" game besides it thats even half as fun. I got Sleeping Dogs for 360 thinking it would be fun, but even that game lost my interest in like 2 hours.

"Two Zelda Games: Eiji Aonuma, the producer of The Legend of Zelda series, revealed two entries in the series for Wii U.

Super Mario is on His Way: The Nintendo EAD Tokyo Software Development team that created the Super Mario Galaxy games for Wii and Super Mario 3D Land for
Nintendo 3DS is working on a new 3D Mario action game for Wii U. The game is scheduled to be playable at this year’s E3.

Buckle Up!: Nintendo is also working on a new installment of the hit Mario Kart franchise. This game is also planned to be playable at E3.

Yarn Yoshi: The team that created Kirby’s Epic Yarn is hard at work on the first console game to feature Yoshi as the main character since 1998’s Yoshi’s Story for Nintendo 64. Takashi Tezuka, director of Yoshi’s Island and Yoshi’s Story, is supervising the development of the new game, which is set in a fanciful world of yarn and textiles.

Wii Fit U Communities: New features coming to Wii Fit U include letting players create user communities on Miiverse from within the game. Community members can discuss exercises, BMI or weight changes and other health topics with other players as a way to encourage one another to reach their fitness goals. Similar functionality for other games is also planned.

Pikmin 3 Photos: The upcoming Pikmin 3 game includes a feature that lets players use the Wii U GamePad as a camera to share the same perspective as Pikmin and take close-up pictures of landscapes and creatures in the game and share them in Miiverse.

The Party Continues: A new installment in the Wii Party franchise is planned to launch this summer. The game features various play styles, including one that lets both players compete head-to-head using just the GamePad.

RPG Mashup: Nintendo has begun many collaborations with outside development partners to bring the best franchises and experiences to Wii U. In one such partnership, Nintendo and Atlus are working on a collaboration that features the Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei franchises. A video trailer for the game was shown in the Nintendo Direct.

A New Game from Monolith Soft: Tetsuya Takahashi and the team at Monolith Soft that worked on Xenoblade for Wii are working on a new game. A video trailer for the game was shown in the Nintendo Direct.

More on the Way: Iwata shared a new trailer for The Wonderful 101. That game and GAME & WARIO are scheduled to launch in the first half of 2013. Iwata also showed a new video for Bayonetta 2. That game and the new Super Smash Bros. installment are still on the way, but will need more development time before details can be revealed.

Virtual Console

Virtual Console for Wii U: A spring system update will add Virtual Console software to the Nintendo eShop for Wii U. The service will launch right after the spring update and will include a selection of NES and Super NES games, with Game Boy Advance games to be added in the future. The prices for NES and Super NES Virtual Console games for Wii U will be the same as they were for the Virtual Console on Wii. People who have already purchased the Wii version of a certain NES or Super NES Virtual Console game and transferred it to their Wii U console can buy the enhanced Wii U version of the same game for the reduced price of $1 for NES games and $1.50 for Super NES games.

Classic Games for 30 Cents! To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of the Famicom in Japan (which was known as the NES in the United States), Nintendo is making one NES or Super NES game available each month now through July at the anniversary price of just 30 cents. Each game will be available at that price for 30 days, and the first is the NES game Balloon Fight, which is now available in the Nintendo eShop for Wii U."

It's a very specific list of games that will be 30 cents; only six I believe. That said, Super Metroid is one of them and that's swell.

I'm too poor to buy one anyway, but the glacial pace at which worthwhile games seem to be coming out for the WiiU makes me sad. I was a Nintendo kid, and I still root for Nintendo, and I hope to someday resume buying their stuff when my financial situation changes.

All the perceived problems of the Wii U will go away just as soon as games and marketing campaigns come out for it. But then Nintendo has to convince developers that making either for Wii U is worth their time.

I actually have one. I think its a good machine to have if you had alot of Wii crap and don't want to get ripped a new one by Gamestop trading all that old stuff in.

This system feels heavily geared for kids 8-15 so it not really a good choice for a primary gaming system for a 20+ adult. For now its good for Netflix,Hulu at the very least.

I also just got the ProU controller and it actually feels legit so I do have some hope of getting some real use out of this system before its all said and done.
