Didn't we do that between three to six months ago? I can't see the vid right now, but if it's the one with Jeri Ryan in it, yup. Been done. If not, color me interested when I get home.

Who likes role-playing games? Me. Way too goddamn much.

Old news. Was a proof of concept video, not an official trailer.

Now that it's been some months since it came out, I'd like to say it looks dumb. Whoever sat down and thought, "Gee, I wish Mortal Kombat was more realistic." is dumb.

Did they really have to kill off Johnny Cage...again? Couldn't they have sent Stryker instead?

I really like the new origin stories for the villains, but I don't like their appearance.

I was unaware if it was already already posted or not but I think they should greenlight it.

I think it's an interesting reboot. Mortal Kombat was pretty dumb to begin with, honestly.

Now if they pulled some shit like this with street fighter, I would be pissed.

God that would be awesome. I really enjoyed that game.

Even though the Playstation version had those cool ass cut scenes with real actors, I preferred the N64 version just because it had no load times. Platformers should not have fucking load times, even in 1997.

I'm not too familiar with the Mortal Kombat mythos, but even I think too much changed here for this to be any good. Scorpion does not seem the sort to bargain with anyone, let alone the authorities.

I've had my finger on the pulse on MK news for quite sometime but when I fell off the horse, thinking that a new movie is a dead idea....I stumbled across this concept/promo trailer like 5 months later. Too be honest, I think it looks pretty cool. If it was greenlighted and made into a movie, I'd definitely go and see it. Whether or not it would be any good is another story but I'd still go and check it out.

The trailer vigorously reminded of CSI bullshit.
I think the plot will work out, its not Shakespeare but enough for a MK movie. The Characters looked like shit, thats i would criticze the most about it.
I always liked the style of MK and they definedly changed it. Baraka looks like he broke free from a carnivals freak show.

it was the best of times
it was the blurst of times

This just looks unappealing to me, even after watching the whole video. If they make an MK movie in this vein, then I bet it'll turn into the Tournament being a blood sacrifice to Shao Kahn who is like some demon... throw in an orgy scene, maybe then I'd be game to go seeing this, but even then it's pushing it.

Yeah, I can see how it would be unappealing to some but I see it as a fresh idea for an otherwise dead franchise. It's definitely a step in a different direction and most MK fanboys may be ehh to the fact but even the games were grundgy and bloody so if another movie were to come out, I'd like to see that aspect integrated into it.

Once they killed Johnny Cage in the first 5 minutes they lost any future money from me.

I'd like ask everyone here if they'd like the proof of concept better if it weren't tied to the MK name.

I'd also like to remind mister woodzell that Mortal Kombat has ALWAYS been dark and gritty. that's it's only selling point.

Oh gimme a break. The goofy concept trailer is trying to make Mortal Kombat realistic looking and gritty. Mortal Kombat was always about cartoony fatalities, guys with four arms and horse legs, people with skull faces and hook things flying from people's palms. That is about as far from gritty realism as humanly possible.

They are trying to put scientific explanations for all of those things in there and THAT is fucking retarded.

Despite my surprise as seeing Geri Ryan in this, I'm still going to pass on it. Too many liberties taken.

I think a movie can still be good even if it does take several liberties with a product. The problem with most/all video game movies isn't that they take liberties. They just aren't good movies. At least this proof of concept tries to go somewhere interesting with it. Far more so than the last ones went.

Eh, I think it looks cool. I really don't see the issue with expanding a concept into new ideas. Sure, some end up being complete piles of crap but even those ones sometimes end up being fun to watch.
