Vancouver has been a disaster since the start of the playoffs, almost blowing a three game series lead against the blackhawks... Luongo has been mediocre to terrible, their goal scoring is hit or miss, so far their above average defensive play and special teams are the ONLY things that have kept the Canucks alive and somehow having a horseshoe up there asses
I will be very disappointed if Boston doesnt take home the cup, they deserve it far more, theyve played their hearts out this entire series

^ I rather agree. I like VAN okay, and would be happy to see a Canadian team win--plus I like Luongo--but holy crap. After the 4th game I just threw up my hands and started rooting for Boston. They've kicked ass.

Well, the Canucks and Luongo playing like utter shit in Boston sank them. Congrats to the Bruins, who played much better. The Canucks didn't even try to defend themselves from the Bruins physical play.
They didn't really need the referees' help though. Boychuk's no-match is such a fucking load of BS. Or Aaron Rome's 4-match one is. Your choice.
And wow Vancouver fans in the stadium are retarded
Anyway, good job Bruins.

WTF? Why does that guy have a pillow?
Anyway, good for Tim Thomas. I'm glad he won the Conn Smythe. He'll probably get the Vezina too.
Thank God the season is over so the rest of us can start getting ready for the draft and free agency. Anyone here think they're team is getting Richards?

Anyone else hear the Vancouver fans booing after the game? Classy. I felt like it was 1996 and I was watching WCW.
"Hogan wins again! And I think, yes, the audience is throwing trash into the ring!"

Yeah, I heard booing at the trophy presentation. Also, did anyone else here the national anthem? I felt like they rushed right thru that like, "eff this, lets get to O Canada" Is that just how they sing it all the time?

It seems to me that whenever it's a US team against a Canada team, in any pro sport championship, it takes it to a whole new level. It's not city against city or state against state, all of a sudden you're playing to bring the title home to America or Canada!
Unfortunately this leads to some fans getting obnoxious about it.

I can't say it happened or not, I turned on the TV like 5 seconds after the game started
But it depend on your definition of "rushing". In Montreal, it's usually sang normally, without making some words last ten times longer than they should. So if the normal for you is like
" For the land of the freeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEeeeeEEEEEEEEeeeee..."
well yes, we're rushing through

while I agree with your statement I think its stupid that people buy into this, the vancouver canucks werent canadas team by any means, they were vancouvers team
as Boston was playing for the city of Boston
infact Boston has more Canadians playing for them then Vancouver does so to say that its canada vs the usa is stupid, that happened in the olympics and was one of the most exciting games of hockey ive ever seen

I think most of the fans were booing Gary Bettman, because they all broke out into a "Bettman sucks" chant.

Random fact: A little over half of all the NHL players in all the teams are Canadian.
Also, the Olympic Hockey finals were definitely intense. While I was disappointed that the US team lost, I was still happy to see such a game.

It was Vancouver CANADA versus Boston UNITED STATES. To think the international thing had nothing to do with the drama of this series was nuts.
It doesn't matter where your individual players are from they represent your city, your state, your whatever. That's the whole point of a local pro team - to give you something to root for.

yes sure, your city
the city of Boston won the cup and it was well deserved, their team worked hard for it
but thas as far as it goes, if Vancouver won the cup it wouldnt be a victory for Canada it would be a victory for Vancouver
infact an online poll in the edmonton sun showed more people in Edmonton were cheering for Boston and there were jokes that Boston was "Canadas Team"
