For the record, that's not a list of all of his *novels.* You've got short story collections on there too, and "SK Goes to the Movies" is just a reprint of a few of his short stories that were eventually turned into films. If you truly want a list of his novels, go to the source: http://www.stephenking.com/library/novel/

Just for fun, if you want a list of EVERYTHING he's ever written:
http://www.stephenking.com/library/written.html

Damn but that boy's prolific. I love him. Very Happy

I didn't see Rage on the list. Was that a short story?

Yeah, more a novella than anything else. I have it in the Bachman Books collection.

I've always liked The Stand a lot. I also love The Dark Tower series now that I've finally read the whole thing. Misery, It, Salem's Lot, Dreamcatcher, the man has a lot of good work under his belt.

I just read Salem's Lot a half a year ago, which is the first book I've read by him. I thought the story started off strong, but lost steam as everything went to shit in the town. However, it did scare the shit out of me. I couldn't read it at night because I thought that if I walked by a window that there would totally be a vampire there. And then I would be fucked cause I'd have nothing to fight them off in my house.

You know what I thought was really awesome though? The Great and Secret Show by Clive Barker.

Those of you who enjoyed "The Stand" really should check out "Under The Dome." It's of roughly the same length, but King has matured a great deal as a writer since 1978. A lot of the character archetypes are very similar.

For me its a tie between The Eyes of the Dragon or Rage. I'm sad to hear Rage is out of print, and the prices on ebay are outrageous. Is there anyone here with a paypal account willing to part with their copy for a reasonable price?

I have read The Shining and Dreamcatcher. I liked Dreamcatcher a lot more than I liked the movie even though both were kind of silly. I might like Dreamcatcher more than The Shining actually. I have read Danse Macabre which is nonfiction and it made me feel sorta eh about him.

I know it is not reading but his version of The Kingdom as "Kingdom Hospital" on TV is the project of his that I like the most. : )

No fear! Don't buy the expensive out of print edition--buy it in the collection "The Bachman Books" along with three other early King novels! (Including "The Long Walk," which is still one of my favorite things he's ever written.)

http://www.amazon.com/Bachman-Books-Stephen-King/dp/B000RC0NVC/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1300009111&sr=8-9

And I'll tell you what: if $20 bucks is a hardship, I'll gladly send you my copy. It's dog-eared and well loved, and I know it wouldn't object to being passed on to another willing reader.

Also: I frigging LOVE Eye of the Dragon! Very Happy

I really should have liked Dreamcatcher more than I did. One of his few longer books that just fell completely flat for me. (Insomnia, on the other hand, I really enjoyed--mostly because of the IT/Derey mythology worked in there.)

Did they ever make a movie out of Needful Things, or the Regulators / Desperation?

Not to my knowledge, although I do tend to avoid King-inspired movies unless it's a special situation. (Which usually translates into "not based on one of his horror stories.")

Holy crap they did make a Desperation movie (for TV), and Ron Perlman played the crazy murderous sheriff!

Weird, from the screenshots in google it looks like it was actually Gary Busey playing him... You don't think the'd intentionally make an actor look more Buseyish to enhance the craziness of the character do you?

*SPUTTER*

Good grief! I guess my "ahhh, Stephen King movie, stay away!" radar was so strong that I missed this one entirely. TO NETFLIX!

Max von Sydow and I DIDN'T KNOW! Shameful Hawk. Sad

If Max Von Sydow is Satan Im totally seeing it. Playing Jesus and the Devil in one career? Totally awesome.

Ok the first King I ever read was IT and for a while there I would walk to the other side of the road to avoid passing sewer grates. I still I still fucking hate clowns to this day. It doesn't help that I thought they were creepy pedophiles in the first place.

My favorite is The Stand as I notice is a lot of other peoples, definitely epic. I also like Eyes of the Dragon though that book is a bitch to find these days, he wrote it for his daughter who didn't like horror. Though lets be honest Flagg is one scary ass villian.

I read Under the Dome not too long ago and I definitely got a Stand vibe from it. It was pretty good though.

Don't worry, Hawk, we all float down here! And for the record, Just After Sunset is another great collection of short stories. Haven't checked Full Dark, No Stars yet. Waiting for Doctor Sleep.

I dunno, I'm wary of short story collections, Everything's Eventual was pretty damn awful, the only book I've ever given away immediately after finishing it because I knew I'd never want to read it again.
