Is there any chance we can get a preview button on the edit profile page so we can preview the changes to our sigs before actually making the changes? The only other way to check that it looks fine is to go through the forum and search for a post that we've made ourselves.

Additionally, could the character limit be extended in the case of text-only signatures? I've run into some problems with adding links that are represented by other text (by using [Url=...), and not being able to stay within the character limit because it counts the link itself (which is not shown) into the character limit.

I know we can't have ridiculously long signatures, and as long as the limit isn't there for other reasons, could the limit be removed so long as it's not abused?

You can use TinyURL to shorten the URLs of your links and get more characters in.

A preview signature thing would be really cool, yeah. I've only ever made like, two changes to my sig I felt I should check to make sure they worked, but it would've been very nice, and I had the same thought, then.

I do use tinyurl, especially now, as I'm advertising the nWo and the Porn-Off thread, as well as another link. I still had to remove part of my sig.
Either way, should text that's not visible in one's sig count towards the character limit? It's not like it's making the sig longer. Hell, link shortening like in my sig makes the visible sig shorter.

I have gone through very few sig changes and only one avatar change. When I first joined up I was the "Eggplant Wizard" from Captain N. Then Bob Ross with a "Berenstein Bears Get Kicked in the Dick" sig. I'll probably bring the latter back sooner or later but I get confused as fucked when people change their shit all the time. It keeps for a consistent reputation around here when people can actually remember you by sig or avatar rather than name.

I'm the kind of person who likes to change avatar once or twice a month, so the showing off thread would be fun (I'm currently drawing myself a gif for a new avatar)
As for the Sig, never gave it much thought, but I'll probably change it along too.

This is actually a good idea, methinks. I always have been annoyed at the fact that every time I change something within my profile (avatar or sig usually), I need to find a post I made to see if the changes went through to my satisfaction. A thread like this could purge this confusion and also would alert those who are concerned to avatar and sig changes among the community. It'd be a fun hangout methinks. It would be a good place to test sigs and avatars to see if they have registered correctly. On the other hand, it could be just another bad idea doomed to assholism and general fuckery.
