Hello, Syd; I stumbled on your site while I searched for a list of the best games for SNES (it was a very enjoyable trip, BTW). I proceeded then to dig up into the main page and I'm loving it, it's great.
I wanted to shed some light on the mystery of the fruits of Adventure Island; you wrote on the article:

Food. The stuff that keeps your fat ass alive. There's bananas, an apple, a carrot, and two other things. I think they're supposed to be a tomato and a pineapple, but I'm not 100% sure. They're worth different point values and they restore varying amounts of energy. Bananas and apples gives you the least, the pineapple gives you the most. |
To me, the last two fruits look like a Kaki (Persimmon) and a Musk Melon:
Persimmon:
Musk Melon:
Both of these fruits are considered delicacies in Japan, particularly the musk melon ( Just check the price )
Keep up the good work, sir!

Fruitgasm is the name of the synth-pop band I was the keyboard player for in high school.

Ayup. Trying to finish levels by only eating those melons was about the only worthwhile challenge in Yoshi's Story.

I've seen the musk melon in a bunch of old games. I've always wondered what exactly it was called.

pretty much any fruit and most vegetables can be made into liquor. just get some sugar water yeast and enough fruit to juice into 2.5 gallons. i got through my first year of college with home made mead. we usually had about ten gallons going at a time and hid it under the bathroom sink where the towels and shit were supposed to go

Well, I guess the question was this: is there a commercially sold liquer made from musk melons?
#EDIT: There is. Midori. I always thought Midori was made from honeydews.
