Yeah, I know Syd doesn't have a lot of time any more. But I think it would be fun to get a new Top 100 out if at all possible. I mena, it's the reason I found this site. I wanted to know the best NES games to add to my Game Boy, since my RL library was full of crap games. Syd did not disappoint.

I'm sure he could get people in the forums to help out, so it won't be so taxing on him. If I had had more Game Boy games, I'd even offer to do most of the work. All Syd should have to do is submit a list. I'd like him to make some comments, too, but only if he has time.

If this idea actually gets off the ground, I think the Game Boy version would be good. I don't think you should have to worry about the Game Boy Color, as it didn't come out until 1998, which, if not outside this site's scope, it's quite close.

If we can't get Syd to do it, why don't we at least list our favorites here?

There will be more lists, this I promise. The goal is to have one up within the next three months.

I'd like to throw my hat into the ring and be a panelist... If it's a PSOne or perhaps a PC game top 100 I'd be overjoyed!

I think using the same people from the SNES list would be perfect.

Well, maybe add one more since one of those guys aren't around anymore.

It'd be nice to have all of the forum users' opinions, on maybe just one thing on the list per user. That way you don't have the same 5 people on 100 things, and anyone who wants to chime in gets their opportunity. Not to mention, it'd take some of the work off of Syd and company.

I don't know about a top 100 Game Boy games. I can think of about thirty good ones, and the rest are just utter crap.

Game Boy, logistically is a tough one. Is it a combined list of GB/GBC/GBA games? Is it just GB/GBC? Is it just original GB?

Just original GB would be hard to do. A lot of the first generation GB games are borderline unplayable now. Mario Land is a good example. The game is important to the console, but it's so fucking ugly by today's standards that it's hard to love it now. Second generation GB games like Mario Land 2 still hold up though.

But if you including GBC games, the list would end up being mostly GBC games, because GBC games were better.

GB and GBC are essentially the same system. So I'd count them on the same list.

GBA is a different system, so I would give it it's own list.

There are many GBC games that can't run on a regular GB though.

Yes, yes, but the systems remain very similar. The GBC is essentially a Game Boy with an add-on.

Can't run at all. The packaging can tell you. Black carts will run on the old DMG gameboys. Clear ones will not.

Similar but not identical. The GBA has often been called a portable SNES, should I have thrown GBA titles on the SNES list?

And as I said, including both hurts the list. Why would I include Super Mario Land on a GB/GBC, when there are dozens of better GBC titles? If it made that list it would only be out of guilt. It would be a must-have on a straight GB list.

If you include GBC titles, this would be the list:

Tetris
Super Mario Land 2
Super Mario Land 3
Pokemon Blue/Red
Metroid II
95 GBC titles

A straight GB list would be more interesting. The problem is this: The GB has a defined lifespan of 9 years, 1989-1999. That lifespan is slightly longer though, as GBC games with backwards support were released as late as November 2002. The GBC lifespan is significantly shorter, probably around 1998-2003. Admittedly, I have no idea when the last GBC game was released.

Long story short. It would be really easy to do a straight GB list.

If you were to do such a list, I trust all five of its Mega Man games would make the cut?

Right?

My personal picks for a GB list (in no particular order):
Mega Man 1-5
Alien 3
Final Fantasy Legend 1&2 (I know a lot of people loved the third one as well, but I found it somewhat underwhelming)
Final Fantasy Adventure
Dr. Franken
Killer Instinct (Best fighter on the game boy, hands down)
Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge
Prince of Persia
Metroid II
Super Mario Land 2 & 3
Pokemon Blue & Red
Kirby's Dream Land
Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Sword of Hope
Tetris
Ultima: Runes of Virtue (the second one sucked, though)

Including GBC and GBA titles would add many, many more to the list.

Yea you pretty much listed what I would have listed except you left off the TMNT games and Fortified Zone.

The only Alien 3 game that deserves top 100 status for its console is the SNES version. That should've been #57 and lost to Mega Man 6, not Jurassic Park.

I have no idea if DM and/or Edzeke even have enough time to make comments. Personally I'd suck at compiling a GB/GBC games list, it would mostly just be this:

1. Wario Land 3
2. Kirby's Dream Land 2
3. Wario Land II
4. Pokemon Crystal
5. Robopon
6-100. Trash

However, I'd kick ass at a Genesis/Mega Drive list due to growing up with the system. I was one of those weirdos who grew up being a SEGA fan.

I said it before, if there's a PS1 top 100, I'll be pretty upset if Tomba doesn't make it on there.
