its a sport. just like basketball and football. this is a controlled beating. no one is getting beat to death. and most of these fighters get paid peanuts. so, there is very little money involved. at least until you make it big.

Why not risk your health? Why go to work when you know exactly what your day is going to be line. Someone people live for excitement. The human psyche is hardly an easily understandable phenomenon. Some people live to just get by some live for adrenaline.

It's not just two people beating each other up, it's two people who have trained, many times for their entire lives, competing at the highest level of their sport. A lot of these guys were junior high, high school, and college wrestlers and now have a chance to make some serious money and attain some glory by doing what they love. It's not just about money for these guys though, it's about living their dreams and finally getting some real, national and even worldwide recognition for what they've been working their whole lives for. These are professional athletes competing in one of the most pure forms of competition known to man, it's not like they take two untrained idiots, throw them in a cage and say "go at it".
And for your above comment, where you called them 'simpletons', you could not be more wrong. A lot of these guys are college educated and have legitimate college degrees (Rich Franklin - former high school math teacher, Chuck Liddell - degree from Cal Poly in accounting, Shane Carwin - has multiple degrees, one being an engineering degree from Colorado School of Mines.... etc., honestly too many to list). And almost all mixed martial artists are far classier than football, baseball, and basketball players. Look at Georges St. Pierre, Mauricio Rua, Lyoto Machida, Fedor Emelianenko, Vitor Belfort, Demian Maia, Nate Marquardt, etc (once again far too many to list).... all very classy and humble athletes who are some of the best in the world at their sport.

Classy!!?? Yeah, really classy to keep hitting a man while he's down. that's a bitch move. A real man would let his oppenent get up and continue the fight.
Of course, that's why boxing exist, but no one gives a shit about that now...

I don't think it's a bitch move, it is your reward for knocking them down....you get an opportunity to pummel them and win the match. Its not like they don't know its coming, they signed up for it.
Boxing is great in its own right, but it is a different sport with different rules. It's too bad that it isn't as popular as it once was. It will have its day again.

It wont make a comeback thanks to the energy drink generation wanting everything, violent, dumbed down, and over sexed. Seriously, go look at all the little shits on youtube "har-har UFC is wayyyy betta den boxin!" their ideaology is just so fucked up it's not even funny. I actually viewed Ultimate Fighter once and it just annoyed me how these guys swore they are the gods of this fuckin planet, and yet 5 years from now nobody will give two-shits about them and move onto the next walking disater.
And whats on spike? a show called MANswers , great further degrade women and show kids UFC aka "Lets keep knocking each other the fuck out, then get in some gay grappling/ground moves, then swear we are so fuckin awesome and all the chicks love us, when actually they just want us for are money but we don't care , SHE LOVES ME!!!"
Fuck UFC. and fuck dana whites bald ass head.

Well, the two valid points you made are that a large part of the UFC fan base is retarded frat boy types, and for the most part, The Ultimate Fighter TV show is shit. Everything else you type is either stupid or completely wrong. If you think Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or other grappling arts are 'gay' then you may just have some latent homosexual fantasies than manifest themselves as anger anytime you see two guys touching each other, because most people don't see anything gay about wrestling. And when you said it's a 'bitch move' to attack someone on the ground, what the fuck are you talking about? A fight is a fight, and an mma competition is a slightly watered down version of a fight, the fight doesn't need to be broken up just because someone gets knocked down. The fight is over when some one submits or is unable to continue, and often times the person who gets knocked down will have a much better chance of winning the fight if his opponent attacks him instead of letting him up, the better grappler always has a good chance of winning the fight on the ground, even from his back.
And if you think no one gives a shit about boxing than your a complete idiot. While it's true that boxing doesn't have quite the draws right now that it did with Tyson or De La Hoya, it's big cards still do far better numbers than any mixed martial arts PPVs. Look at the Super Six coming up and try to tell me that no one gives a shit about boxing anymore.
You really need to just quit posting and delete all your past comments, because it's really clear to everyone here that you have no idea what you're talking about. If you were coming up with intelligent discussions or even if you had mildly acceptable spelling and grammar, I'd love to debate this with you. But as things are, I feel like I'm picking on a handicapped kid, and that's just not cool.

Protip, if you are going to get knocked down enough to have someone start pummeling you, you have already lost. A real man would be able to get up even while someone in trying to pound their face in on the ground.

Are you seriously trying to defend boxing while hating MMA?

Wow, you are really trying this. Alright then.
Fact, MMA is way safer than boxing. This is because there are two ways to win in boxing, punching a guy enough in the face to knock them out, or punching a guy in the face enough for the judges to awards you the fight after ten plus rounds. MMA, on the other hand, has a lower rate of brain damage and deaths related to it due there being many different viable strategies, shorter rounds, less rounds, and easier to spot TKOs. Submission will rarely do any lasting damage unless the opponent refuses to give up and gets a limb broken.

Cause boxers never trash talk or act arrogant at all. Nope, never happened, that would be ludicrous. [/sarcasm]

then get in some gay grappling/ground moves |
Crap, looks like I used that [/sarcasm] thing way to early. Anyways, it sounds like you either:
A. Have been made to submit by wrestlers many times and are upset about it
B. Never been choked out before
If it is A, then STFU. if it is B, think about this, the man who inspired the creator of BJJ started in the days pre-MMA. Back then, there were no rules, just two guys in the middle of a ring and they would fight, using whatever styles they want. He fought anyone and everyone, including boxers, and won more than 2000 fights. Then, the creators of BJJ, the Gracie family, would go on to become one of the greatest families of fighters that ever lived, taking on people twice their size and still being able to win or bring the match to a draw.
Encase you tl;dr, STFU

I believe there's a troll amongst us. Anyway, can't wait to see Forrest redeem himself by beating Tito. Also, does anyone else think there's a correlation between Brock showing his ass after beating Mir then TUF being all heavyweights, or had they already decided on that weightclass before the Lesnar/Mir fight?

IMO this season of TUF is Heavyweights because the UFC is shallow in that division, and it's Kimbo Slice's division.

Yea, I think the reason for the heavyweight season was definitely Kimbo. And, yea, can't wait to see Forrest beat Tito again (I truly believe that he beat him the first time). It'll be a good fight to get Forrest's head back in the game. He really is a great fighter, he just had nothing for Anderson in the stand up.

Man, I kinda felt bad for Wes Simms. Justin Wren looked good though, along with Shaub and Nelson, that's 3 people that I could easily see beating Kimbo.

I really don't wanna play "bash the new guy" first thing after a 7 month hiatus, but after reading some of this crap I just have to give my two cents.
To start off with, I get tired of this mentality that MMA is just a couple of Tank Abbott like redneck bar fighters who are just throwing haymakers and breaking off each others teeth at the gumline. These are professional athletes who are trained in a mixture of combat sports, just like boxers. In fact, boxing is an important component of MMA. There is a lot of technique that goes into MMA.
A lot of these guys come from legitimate combat sports and martial arts that don't either don't provide opportunities beyond the amateur level (such as wrestling), or don't provide much opportunity at the professional level in this country. MMA allows for these athletes to compete professionally by combining various forms of martial arts and combat sports.
If someone can appriciate boxing, wrestling, kickboxing, judo, karate, BJJ, sambo, etc, there should be no reason not to feel the same way about MMA. It is a regulated sport with rules in place to protect the fighters, just like the above mentioned combat sports. This isn't pit fighting or the fucking kumite. Albeit, it was a little brutal at first. But after Dana White took over and started putting rules in place to protect the fighters and make it safer, most of the state athletic commissions have come around to allow MMA competition in their respective states.
In fact, compared to boxing, there is less of a risk of brain damage in MMA.
