I'm about to say something that just may unleash the wrath of meteo from the sky: I'm actually kinda enjoying this challenge. It only took me three tries to get out of the first room with no health lost whatsoever.
I have a hint for those who haven't discovered it(which probably means all of you did a long time ago): jump kicks are your best weapon. After that, get away, wait, then do it again. It's cheap, I know, but considering how many people hate this game, I'm not sure anyone'll give a rat's ass about it.
Not to say the game isn't hard; once the enemies get at you, they won't stay off. They make the Super Double Dragon baddies look like total pansies. The only thing I absolutely hate is the fact that you only get one goddamn life.
That being said, I'm actually okay with this challenge. Keep it up, Douche! *dashes out of the room before anyone can shoot me*

The computer's AI is much higher in this game, and obviously, the game is much more unforgiving. They'll double team you, every time, if you let them.
I already sent a preliminary entry in and I think I've done pretty well. I'm worried about one stage in particular since Bimmy could never jump very well.
ya the 4-2 one took me forever to figure out but once u get the timing down its easy.
the 8-1 isnt bad either u just get them on screen go far left wait for first one to fall completley then run and small jump

I was never good at wall jumps so couldn't do the one in 8-4. I did try, but it's never a sure thing. I was aiming for 4 coins(3 if a lucky wall jump), but couldn't nail the sequence of jumps in 8-1 perfect.

There is a much easier way in 8-4 than a wall jump. I can do all of the necessary jumps to make the zero run, I just couldn't put it all together for one run. I made videos of the three tricky jumps just for proof. But I don't wanna post them yet. I'll wait for Not Sure to post his first. I have a feeling his jump in 8-4 is the same as mine and I don't want to steal his thunder. But I'm uploading the jumps on youtube now.

Double Dragon 2 was great. What the hell were they thinking with this one life thing?
I had a 0 coin run, too, but it was longer. I used the 4-2 method you used for a while but it was too hard, and I found a better method. I also had a better method for the 8-4 wall jump. I should've tried harder... anyway, I'll post my run soon.
I've seen at least 5 methods to get by 4-2 without a coin.
I laughed at AVGN's review when he bitched about too many enemies being on the screen at once. The game only ever has two, max. Through the entire fucking thing.
I've beaten it, I would know.
(Abusing the fuck out of save states, of course).

I got 1 coin in 4-2. I wasn't sure there was a way to avoid it. Should've looked harder. I knew about the glitch you used, but thought you had to hit the vine first, then go back and touch it. Seems obvious now it should've worked either way.
Nice use of the moving left side of the screen as well, a glitch that never occurred to me to try to use to force wall jumps. I read about it, but it wasn't too clear how to do it or which situations it worked in.
Also, given a previous recorded run, if I touched more than 2 coins in 8-1 I had to scrap it because it would be worse than my current best. My goal was to get to 8-1 as fast as possible and fight out the coins there.

That's too many.
If you get between them, say goodbye to half your health bar.
...wow. Just wow. Both of you. I didn't even -know- about the pipe trick.
The only way I found to get past that 4-2 vine coin was to not take the warp at all. I did a "test" run to see if going through 5-1 could end up in a 0-coin run, and it can, but it's hard (I actually went to 5-1 from 1-2 in that one...I know -that- trick at least).
I never figured out how to get past those 8-1 coins, but I was thinking, "You know, if there were some enemies here, this could be done". Didn't think to scroll them over.
I played a lot of Double Dragon 2 on downtime between trying challenges. I find myself attempting to go for the super knee or super uppercut playing this game
My favorite move in DD3 has to be when Billy does a flip onto the enemy's head and flip throws him. It's hella fun to watch, especially when the enemy hits a wall.

did you know that in two player mode if both players do the cyclone spin kick at the same time, Billy and Jimmy with interlock and do a Super Spin Kick? Me and a buddy used to play 2 player co op on this game a lot and we would use this maneuver.
