I want to see this in the worst way, but it's currently only limited release and it's not playing anywhere near me. So I have to wait until November 10 for the widespread release. Bleating and Babbling

But on a related note, has anyone seen it yet? If so, how was it?

I saw it at Loews Boston Common on Friday.

In short, it was fucking great. The humor was spot-on, the acting was good, the plot was a bit shaky, but by no means terrible, and the film was surprisingly gruesome in places, which I wasn't expecting.

If you can grab the subway into town, check it out before the wide release.

Of course I know how to use torrents. But when I want to see a new movie, I want to see it on a big screen, dammit. I only torrent stuff like Open Water and Wicker Park that I probably wouldn't have watched otherwise.

In general, I don't see the point. Bootlegs of stuff that come out when it's in the theaters generally suck and quality rips of older stuff off of Laser Disc & DVD are so big that they're not worthing getting unless you have a DVD burner. The only movies that I can recall downloading have been:

South Park (before the DVD came out)
Star Wars Episodes 4-6 OTR
Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Edit
Open Water

I'm actually afraid to see Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. I just know I'll be sitting there watching the big screen and BANG! Val Kilmer will reach critical mass and the world will end. I'd rather see Saw II because at least THAT'S fake.

Is the echo on Luke's voice when he yells at Vader back in?
(Scene:
Luke: I'll never join you! (echo not on the DVD)
Vader: If you only knew the power of the darkside! Obi-Wan never told you about your father
Luke: He told me enough (echo). He told me YOU killed him (echo)
Vader: No, Obi-Wan killed your father! BUM BUM BUMMMMMMM!!!!)

Is Phantom Edit any good from a guy who liked the DVD edit?

Well, OTR stands for Original Theatrical Release. Of course, the rips aren't from the original reels, they're from either pre-special edition VHS or Laserdisc. Judging by the film quality, I'd guess Laserdisc. So unless Lucas started fucking with the film before the original special editions, then yes.

If you already enjoy the original film, then there's no reason as for you to see it as a Star Wars fan. But if I recall, you're a film student. So as a film student, it's probably worth your while to see it as it was the known instance of a fan cut of a movie being released. You can read about the changes here:
