I was just at a friends house and he had some Hulk comics. Just random ones . After reading a few including a World War Hulk issue i have to say the Hulk is boring as hell.

To be honest i was never into Hulk so i didn't know too much about him. After reading these comics he had i went over to my good friend wikipedia to do some research and holy shit.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powers_and_abilities_of_the_Hulk
I was reading his powers and abilities page. And i have to say half of it is plain stupid. If The Hulk was a video game he would be broken. Reminds me of TG Cid in FFT or Sabins blitzes in FF6. Just utterly broken.
He breaks and destroys stuff that was cannonicly (or whatever) unbreakable. He moves the unmoveable blob. And he stops the unstoppable Juggernaut. And his writers keep pushing it. He grows gills and the ability to breathe in space? Whats the point of making a comic if you know hell overcome any odd thrown at him. It reminds me when used to sorta watch Yu Gi Oh where the writers would just reach out of their asses and find weird ways for the Good Guys to always win. It just seems that the writers now are just pissing on all the writers who created stuff like Thor or Hercules or Galactus or whoever hulk destroys or breaks. "Wow look what i wrote!"
And their really seems no limit.

I feel the need to mention Iron Man, as he has a suit to beat the shit out of the Hulk, and any of the Greys would be able to take down the Hulk. He is beatable, but he is one of the stronger characters in the Marvel Universe.

Well The hulkbuster 2 was destroyed during world war hulk so i dunno. Maybe the first still works?

It just seems that no matter what COULD beat the hulk the writers eventually have the hulk get stronger and render if noneffective.

Hulkbuster Armor 2 might have been able to beat The Hulk, but there was sabotage to the weapons, which would have suppressed The Hulk's power through the use of nanites.

I am sure there are always ways to beat The Hulk. Choking him out seems to work.

That's kind of how I feel about Superman, only the Hulk is more interesting.

Yeah but Supes has kryptonite. And it comes in a variety of colors . They even had that whole Death and Return thing where Doomsday broke his back. Yeah he came back but to have a foe strong enough for that is an equalizer.
From reading stuff about Hulk anytime he does have a foe like that they wait a few issues until he gets madder and then gets stronger and commences an extreme beat down.

doomsday didnt break his back. they just both died from sheer exhaustion.

but i agree that superman is overpowered like crazy. thats part of the reason i dont like him. and kryptonite is not easily accessible. and his whole boy scout persona can get kind of annoying.

if you wanna read about ridiculous characters, read about doomsday on wikipedia. that guy is ridiculous.

Imperiax blasted Doomsday like nothing though. But then again the only marvel similarity i could find for Imperiax is the Celestial One Above (not to be confsed with the Marvel God One above All)

Except that it comes in like twelve colors and seems to rain from the sky. For being the irradiated remnants of a planet light-years away, it sure is plentiful on Earth...

You're thinking of Bane and Batman.

Superman > Hulk.
DC > Marvel.
Have a nice day. Smile

Superman and the Hulk are about as bad as eachother. Superman suffers from the fact that while the hulk has one power that can do almost anything and no limit, superman can do anything that the writers need him to, using existing powers as a handwave or making new ones wholecloth.

Oh, and there is a kryptonite that makes superman homosexual. Instant fail.

DC is sometimes better than marvel. Sometimes it creates unstoppable ubermench and cuts dramatic tension off at the pass.

DC has the better character stock and so far two slam dunk arcs of Dead & Return of Superman and No Man's Land. Awesome Marvel arcs = nowhere to be seen.

*Arguably Secret Wars.

no.

anyways, hulk's appeal is that although he is so strong, he's a very conflicted and uncontrolled person.

besides, there are plenty of people without godly powers that can take the hulk out. susan richards, for one.

A cluttered mess from my understanding - to be fair, my great reading of it will commence later this year.

I forgot "Runaways" is a Marvel title.

Though not a huge fan of either company (I find myself reading more Darkhorse books than DC or Marvel), if I've found that most stories I'm curious enough to pick up are DC titles. For DC, I've bought Kingdom Come, The Dark Knight Returns, The Dark Knight Strikes Again (not that that is any special, but I wanted to read it), Crisis on Infinite Earths and I'd like to try to find the TPB for What Ever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? For Marvel, the last series I read was Earth-X and Universe-X, like 6 years ago.

a double nail in the coffin is that the "X" series was basically "what would you do if you had to make kingdom come with marvel characters?" >_<

civil war wasn't too bad if you really dug into what they were trying to tell you, but the aftermath kind of shitted on it.

runaways is fantastic.

I thought the Xs weren't that bad, though I was fairly disappointed that it wasn't all Alex Ross paintings like Kingdom Come.

Oh, better character stock. Like 95% white dudes, wonder woman, two chicks better known for their choice of clothing than anything else, one black green lantern, a black dude in steel armor, and a black dude with a letter T on his face.

I'm not mentioning the superfriends characters.
