I recently had an interesting conversation with my grandmother that went something like this about some marshmallow cookies in a Spanish-language box.

Me: Hey nana, how're those cookies?
Nana: *not hearing me properly due to a mini-stroke she had a while back* Yeah, I had some.
Me: No, I'm just curious how they taste.
Nana: Well, they're not very good.
Me: Oh?
Nana: Well, they're not American.
Me: You couldn't tell that from the box?
Nana: Well yeah. They're Mexican.
Me: SPANISH!
Nana: What's the difference?
Me: One's a language as well as an ethnicity, the other's just an ethnicity.

*sigh*
