I found this hilarious, marvel final f-up to the point where it's obvious that comics have lost creativity just as much as hollywood. IMHFO, Marvel should put a close to spiderman soon. I haven't been reading spiderman lately but I'm glad i'm not, because if a hardcore fan is this disappointed with the material lately, as a casual reader I'm kind of put off.

Comics are not perfect, don't get me wrong, but how much longer can marvel rely on spiderman before his story arcs become so stale and repetitive nobody, not even hardcore fans will buy them.

I never got into comics due to the mile high price to keep up with all that stuff. Hell i wouldn't even know where to get them. Half the "Comic" stores around here sell 99% anime stuff and maybe they carry a few ultra rare 1970's Marvel or DC comics that i couldn't afford anyway. Not to mention the hundreds of branch offs that both of those companies have. It wouldn't be a problem if i wanted to just follow one comic or another but the stories are all so entangled you have to read all the other parallel comics to understand the run ins and cross overs to have it make semi sense. Even after all that you have to fight through the multiple versions and restarts. Example the whole silver age golden age versions etc of the DC that makes it confusing as all hell. How many diff Supermans can their be. I've had friends try to explain to me what seems like 9 diff Superman restarts and diff variations of the guy. How do these people keep up with all this shit?

I hate it when someone is all "YAR I AM GONNA DO AN ANGRY VIDEO" and then they sound like they are doped up on lithium. This guy sounds like about every fifth customer I get in my shop, except they bitch about how Naruto was way cooler before kids got into it or whatever. But in that same total, non-aggressive, slightly put-off tone. If you're angry, sound angry. You ever seen any of Damien Demento's youtube rants? That fucker sounds ANGRY, haha.

Anyway, as far as comics go, they always try some new stuff with characters, and say it's gonna stick, then it doesn't fly. Superman being dead, Batman being replaced, Batman's son in that recent arc, etc. I don't mind so much that they revamp guys, because in some cases it makes sense... like having Superman's retool so that he is weak to magic and Batman's revamp with Year One, but Marvel always seems to blow it with these things.

This is why the best way to read comics is... trade paperbacks. Let the publisher collect all the stuff that's considered canon FOR me, imo.

And I do as well. In fact, does anyone like what has happened. Spidey went from Rogue fugitive with a hot wife and ends up a duffis who is alone and living with his aunt. The latter is how many nerds lives are and they enter comics to GET AWAY from that reality. I would never had though any writer or editor of Marvel would allow such a down grad of character. 'brand new day' . . . how about 'brand new dust collector'. It will be interesting to see what Stan thinks of this shitstorm.

Hang in their DC, Spidey always bounces back . . . at least . . . we hope he does . . . :p

You know, if aunt may did die, that would have set up Spidey and mary jane naming their daughter 'May' in aunt may's memory. Holy shit, i just came up with a better resolution for the arc and one that all fans can enjoy and respect. Sign me up, Marvel Cool

Those pics are hilaroius, Marvel should f*ck up more often and inspire more internet geeks to bash the 'new' material.

I just don't get the whole 'ghetto' spider-man thing. In fact, almost everything has been made ghetto now. I really would like to see Disney go this route, just think of the possibilities:

Mickey could be a pimp,

Minny and Dasiy could his hoes (add all the princesses and other female characters in for good measure)

Goofy could be a crack head.

Donald could be a homicidal maniac with his mouth pinned shut

Chip and Dale could be hard core cops that say 'f*ck' a lot.

Scrooge could be a mob boss

And Pete could be . . . well pete really doesn't have to change to fit in now does he Wink

I seriously spent hours talking about the fuck up of Marvel with Spider-Man here with a colleague. I don't read Spider-Man except for what I have on CD, but even I am pissed by the reboot. Not just because it's pulling an "Angel makes everyone forget about Conner" type of retcon, but because JMS got royally screwed. Remember when Cigarette Smoking Man read the ending of his short story in a porn magazine and said all heart broken: "This isn't the ending I wrote" well same happened to JMS (link. Okay, so his ending wasn't much better, but how did Marvel go from hating his ending to writing an even more convoluted ending!? All they wanted were two things: No more marriage and no one remembers who Spider-Man is from Civil War. That's it. "A Wizard Did It". That's all they needed to do and the fans would've only been 1/12th as pissed as they are now. So how did Quesada come up with an even crappier version than that by not just removing those elements but elements that happened even before JMS wrote for Spider-Man!?!?

My friend was telling me about how he went into the comic store a few Wednesdays ago and that multiple customers were taking off Spider-Man from their pull lists. Not only that, but that they getting into heated agreements of anger about it. Ouch.

Of course, all this will do is increase readership in Ultimate Spider-Man, cause that's why it was even started in the first place.

Of course, I'm just piggybacking off what I've found out. I don't read Spider-Man so it doesn't really affect me in the least. I only got pissed when I heard about the JMS screw. There is a part of me that's thinking: Hey, you don't read Spider-Man and this reboot is supposed to bring in new fans... Why don't you start reading? Well, because brain, that's what THE MAN wants me to think... ...Sorry. Embarrassed

Anyway, I want to mail Marvel a DVD of "Riding the Bullet".

I guess this promotional art means nothing anymore either. It's bluntly shown hear that spidey is protecting mj from the villians. It's always been spidey and mj and since he'd been with her for so long I can't really imagine him with anyone else.

I'm going to stop you there because i do agree that Marvel will want there other spidey prints to get noticed, the main reason Marvel did this was to create contravercy and try to improve readership with amazing spider-man that way.

I know few here watch American Idol but that same thing happened during season 6 with Sanjaya malakar. People questioned why he was in the competition to begin with because he didn't prove to be better then anyone else who didn't get through. The problem was, this contrivercy around Sanjaya was all the buz and the only thing AI season 6 had to offer, after he was voted off (ironicly the week before that crappy charity special) the whole show went downhill (for me anyway)

'So you think you can dance' tried to pull this same shit by putting through a guy who was no where near as good as those vote off before him and the judges excuse was he danced "uniquely" which looks more like a drunking Mr. Fantastic trying to dance after getting sprayed with liquid nitro.

Now Marvel is trying to use this tried and true f*cking bullshit way of getting attention, and that is to f-up the spider-man world enough to confuse and piss off the fans royal so they can get hooked and read about whatever everyone else is bitching about.

Contrivercy is what makes the entertainment biz go round.

According to Dr. Jeebus, who is too fucking lazy to post here himself, but somehow has time to listen to fruity ass Marvel podcasts, Harry Osborne is not still alive.

Marvel has said thatMephisto only did three things:

1. Ensured Aunt May wouldn't die.
2. Broken up Peter and Mary Jane.
3. Fucked with people's memories in some vague capacity in regards to these two actions.

Aunt May was attacked because Parker unmasked. So now, people remember that Spiderman unmasked, but no one remember who his secret identity was. The frame of Peter and Harry drinking beers together was a final frame and Marvel has hinted that it was Mephisto playing mindgames with Peter as opposed to Harry suddenly being magically alive.

Also, the guy apparently blatantly lied about the "Back In Black Premise" or is a fucking retard who doesn't read very well. Peter didn't just randomly pull the black costume out of some tower because he accidentally ripped his red one; he intentionally decided to start wearing it after Aunt May was attacked to show criminals that he wasn't fucking around anymore and he wouldn't be showing them mercy. One of his first actions upon donning the black suit was to break into the prison where Kingpin was being held and beat the fat fucker within an inch of life so that everyone would know that he was now Psycho Spidey.

This guy is just a retarded fanboy, and from what Syd told me most of the shit he says isn't even accurate. Some highlights to note:
When he mentions back in black being a publicity stunt...well no shit it was. It was also all very well written and he not only oversimplified everything, he wasn't even accurate. Besides it's not like the this is the first time it's happened or anything. While Batman Begins was in production, DC was about to kill Batman and turn him into a new god until Warner Brothers stopped them.

Most importantly, however, Mephisto did not change that much. He stopped Aunt May from dying and he annulled Peter and MJ's wedding. Aside from the wedding, all events in the Marvel universe have still taken place, Mephisto just fucked with people's memories (Stated in an interview with Joe Quesada where he says that unlike the DC universe they don't just reboot every couple years). Spidey is still running around with the New Avengers, they just don't know his secret identity. Harry is still dead and the character that appears to be Harry is most likely just Mephisto fucking with Peter. Syd also said that according to this guy Peter and MJ never met, which makes me think he didn't even read it because they mention that the two of them dated but had broken up.
