Not sure what got my attention, but landed back here again and was reminiscing on days of my youth and this forum.

I'm older now, probably not any wiser, but a dad of 2 now and showing them the ropes with old school gaming. Still follow some of you on Facebook and love seeing your updates in life.

Hope you're all doing well where ever you are now. Spent a lot of time here years ago and always enjoyed it.

Love,
Atma

Hey Atma! Good to hear from you. Doin' well over here, hope that's likewise for you and the family!

I still chuckle when I look at my classic Atmatar. Good memories...

Love you Atma <3. Glad to hear you're doing well. There's an SL discord, too, if you didn't know; feel free to hop in there if you like. (I PM's the link since we have an infestation of spam bots on the forum.)

Thought I would throw my two cents in here as well.

This place pops into my mind every so often. I have a few peeps on facebook.

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm older and a lot more mellow now haha.

Aren't we all lol.

The discord is nice, if you're interested in joining. Has something of the old IRC vibe (although, as you said--we're all older and more mellow now.)

Hey Alowishus! Hope you've been well, too. Like SoldierHawk said, the Discord is pretty great. A good mix of the forum and IRC vibe of the heydays.

I'd be interested in joining tbh. I have a lot of good memories here, and I really miss y'all, although I know I have a few of you on Facebook.

I guess I'm just really nostalgic, ya know? To this day, SydLexia is my all time favorite website. Nothing has quite been able to fill that void. And the community was awesome back in the day! I was 16 when I started posting here (although I was already a fan of the site for a little over a year at that point), just turned 29 in October. I'm actually going through all the old SydLexia articles currently and rereading each one. I'm currently at the "Top 100 NES Games" article again, although almost finished with it. I still love these articles so much! I hold out hope that one day, Syd will return for just one more article, or at least to finish the Crystalis article. But even if not, I'm thankful for everything the man has given us already.

It's sad to see this place die. Out of the three main communities I joined as a teenager and participated in for a looooong time, only one of them is (thankfully) still active, even if it has slowed down a bit. But the memories will always be there.

Sorry to get all sappy, but this site was really there for me when shit was tough growing up. And shit was tough a lot, so I'm glad this place was a beacon of happiness for me in troubling times. And I'm very grateful for the cool people I interacted with over the years. You guys are awesome!

This is something that occupies my thoughts every so often. The forums here were an insanely formative experience in breaking me of being a fucking weirdo who didn't understand other people, and some of the friendships I made here will last basically forever. Even for people I haven't talked to in years, all they have to do is say hi and it's like no time has passed at all. That's an extremely special thing; although I'm even closer to a different online group now, I don't think that the uniqueness of this place can ever be replaced. I really hope everyone who used the forums or IRC regularly is in a good place, doing okay now.

https://discord.gg/homestuck is where you can find me literally 99% of the time. Stop on by if you feel like it, we're a nice crowd.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to pop in and echo what I've already seen here. This place was a refuge for me for a long time. I still hold out hope that one day, it will return to it's former glory. It's still my all-time favorite forum.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

I joined this forum when I was 26 after lurking for around a year or two. This was the last bastion of the old internet for me, and a huge part of why I still check in and even bother to have a discord account. I was lost back then, a broken person trying to find a new direction after the misadventures of my first career. I'll be 40 next March and I can't say things are much better. That's probably just me being grumpy about new things.

I am pleased to hear that some of you are well, and hope that those others we no longer hear from are well, or are at rest.

I just recently had something about Sydlexia pop up and I had totally forgotten about this place. I joined here when I was 16/17 and now I just turned 30 lol

I definitely miss all of you and remember times here very fondly <3

My bad. And that was late 1993, so firmly within the mid-1990s range.

Same here! I started posting here when I was 16, almost 17. I turned 30 in October.

I miss everyone on the forums too. Crying

In retrospect, I was actually here for only a few short years before the forums pretty much completely died besides the occasional old timer popping in for old time's sake, but it's still one of the three best online communities I've ever been a part of, along with the Video Game Critic forums (which is still active, and one I actually moderate nowadays) and the Nintendo Domain (which is sadly even deader than this forum).

Vald was pretty close on dates. I was born in September 93. I was introduced to this forum by my high school friend group in Summer 2011. I turned 30 this past September so the maths should all math.
