This one hits me deep.

Having listened to Steely Dan for two-thirds of my life and seen them in concert three times, Don and Walt definitely earned a lofty position in my personal list of beloved celebrities. Props are forever owed his work on the sublime Steely Dan albums (including their cryptically cool lyrics).

At concerts, Walt was typically the one to freely speak to the crowd between songs, and was consistently hilarious in doing so. Additionally, whenever the band would play Hey Nineteen, Walt would often share some tall tales leading up the the Cuervo Gold plug.

Thought I'd share some photos of Walt from a 2011 concert. Rest in peace, Walt. I'm gonna miss you.

Raging Bull lost Best Picture to Ordinary People. Though De Niro did win Best Actor.

I love Raging Bull, and now I'm embarrassed that I didn't know LaMotta was a real person.
