Now we just wait until someone edits the Hobbit movies into one condensed version with all of the bullshit cut out.

I'm sure somebody can do this on their home computer and put it on Youtube, or a piracy site if removed from Youtube.

Ha! I said that exact thing to my roommate when we walked out of the theater.

Some people did it with the Star Wars prequels. Pretty much the entirety of Episode I was cut except for the Obi Wan/Qui Gon vs Darth Maul fight.

@om, didn't Topher Grace do that? I know he edited a version and showed it to very few people, but apparently it opens with the Jinn/Kenobi/Maul fight, cuts most of the political stuff, and is just amazing.

Does anybody here have a Ross Rifle?

Yes he did. Some people on Reddit put together a version based on first hand accounts from people who had seen Topher's version of the prequels a couple of months ago. Search for 'Star Wars - The Last Turn to the Dark Side' if you are interested in seeing it. It is as close as we will probably get to Topher's version seeing as he will never put it out without facing legal action.

Darth Maul was the best part of Episode 1, and they fucking killed him off. They should have kept him for the sequels.

Fixed. Also, they brought him back/killed him off for real in the 2008 Clone Wars series.

Bringing people back from the dead is a retarded story that people need to stop using. Once your dead, your dead. More dramatic that way, especially when characters can die at any time.

So, finally watched it the other night. A lot useless bits crammed in. Especially the stupid love triangle between two elves and a dwarf. Especially when you consider that neither elves were even suppose to be in the story. I'm assuming it must have been studio meddling on that one. "Cram in a love plot or girls won't see it" marketing BS.

And, was I the only one who got really mad when Legolas' dad told him to go find Strider (Aragorn)?

I was like "Is he even born yet? And, if so, he would be a little kid at most. And, he's already wondering the wilds on his own? F*ck you, movie!"

I might be wrong on this, but from what I recall of the books Aragorn would have been in his 20's around that point in time. Bilbo is in his 40's or 50's during the Hobbit (I think) and Aragorn is in his 70's(?) during the Lord of the Rings. I might be a bit off on the ages but I recall it being somewhat close to that.

And yeah, it was completely unnecessary, as was the love triangle.

You made me do research.... GRRR...

According to Tolkien's timeline Aragorn was only ten at the time of the Battle. So, yeah he was just a kid named "Estel" still living in Rivendell. He didn't leave for the wilds until he came of age and told his true heritage, which was at the age of 20.

Maybe Peter Jackson had that in the movie just to mess with Viggo Mortensen. I recall reading he was offered to reprise his role as Aragorn in the Hobbit movies and declined because Aragorn was not in The Hobbit. Maybe it's a jab at him or some sort of inside joke.

I think they captured the more childish colorful tones of the book pretty well, but all the other problems everyone has already pointed out definitely soured it for me. The first one had promise and I was letting some of the crap slide, the second was about the same. I slept through the majority of the third one after the dragon died.

As a side note, my favorite part of the entire trilogy was that corny ass painting the master of lake town had of himself.
