I just got the BluRay edition of The Evil Dead after losing my DVD a long time ago. First time watching it in at least fifteen years. I still like it better than the remake. And the commentary track talking about all they went through making the film was really interesting.

Also saw Star Trek: Into Darkness; It was alright, entertainment-wise, but damn is it the most obnoxiously blatant over-use of the teal-and-orange fad I've seen yet. Their teeth and sclera are BLUE. That's not okay!

And I just watched Let's Get Harry on satellite. Not a bad film for being directed by Alan Smithee (Stuart Rosenberg in this case). It's got Robert Duvall, Mark Harmon, Gary Busey and Tom Wilson. Very by-the-numbers, and ridiculous but it kept me entertained.

Lockout


Completely predictable all the way through...but, still a very fun movie.
I really liked the sarcastic, don't-care attitude of Guy Pearce's character.

(I lied when I said 'completely predictable'; I never would have guessed at the ridiculous PS2-level CG effects. Luckily they aren't used much.)


Boarding Gate


Decent acting all-around; some good camera work, excluding the following-behind shots of walking that are all really close up and claustrophobic for some reason; cool scenery in Hong Kong; didn't care for the ending.

Lost Boys: The Thirst


It is just as ridiculous and cheesy as you'd expect. Although, I was impressed at how good a low budget B-movie can look these days.

Feeding Frenzy from the Red Letter Media guys. If you like their reviews you'll probably like the movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Man of Steel. By the time it got to the big, dumb, explode-y, half-hour climax battle, I was fast-forwarding to Zod, watching the scene, then fast-forwarding again. All the time, money and human effort that went into those action scenes were completely wasted.

Scarlet Street. Liked the sleaze-ball con-man antagonist. Liked the paintings. Average movie.


To Catch a Thief. Good acting. Funny. Feels weird when the climax to a movie isn't 10+ minutes of explosions. Good movie.


Unbreakable. Heard the 'twist' a long time ago, forgot it. Still called it halfway through the movie. Not bad. Very much like The Sixth Sense, filming/acting-wise.

Watched X-Men: Days of Future Past and Frozen. Both were good. I was impressed by the natural-looking cloth movements in Frozen.

Personally, I thought it was better. Off the top of my head I can't think of anything I hated in the film. Just little things here and there, nothing that adds up to annoyance or aggravation. I was skeptical when I first saw pictures of the Quicksilver character, but I really liked him in the film. The future-battles were cool looking, flowed well (you could always tell what was happening), and were quite brutal. Blink could have been better. But some shots she looked better in than others.

Anyway, I thought it was well worth seeing while it was still in theaters.

(As an aside, when I saw this, some woman came in just reeking of perfume. Enough to make me nauseous and give me a splitting headache. And I still enjoyed the film. )
