Because Russia isn't stupid. That missle defence shield wouldn't only track Iranian missles; where the system is located, it is primed to pick up all air traffic--planes, helicopters, missles--within Russian soil too. The missle defence shield allows the United States to spy on Russia at will, all under the guise of self-defence.
