That just doesn't make sense. Automobiles are an old technology, but is there a new and better alterative? No.
Flash is old technology, and it has a new and better alternative.

There are new and better alternatives. There just aren't any that are practical right now. Any replacement is going to be phased in gradually, and the infrastructure for automobiles is going to have to remain in place for a long time while it's phased out.

Man, this metaphor stretches further than I thought.

Nope. In the Flash v. HTML5 case, HTML5 is very practical. More-so than Flash, in fact. If I want to create dynamic web content, and have the biggest audience as possible, HTML5 is the way to go, as practically every modern device supports and web browser supports it.

No, I am not. I have my informed opinions on this kind of stuff. I don't just hate on Android because it wasn't made by Apple/there is an Apple alternative. Hell, I like Windows Phone 7, and that's made by fucking Microsoft, the last company you'd expect to make stuff I would have a positive reaction to.

Adobe is moving away from Flash as a web-content providing plug-in. They will continue to build Flex which is more of the business back-end version of flash that is used to build real applications (think Flex vs .Net or Flex vs Java).

This doesn't mean Flash is dead right now, it does however mean that it will slowly be phased out. Expect fewer and fewer things to be built using it.

FigNewton did, as I told him on IRC via PM.

@Crazy_Bastard: Meh, outside of that kongregate.com or whatever it is, I have never found more than a handful of Flash games worth more than five seconds of my time.
