Welcome to the Sydlexia Forum Battle 2012! We've gotten off to a rough start, but hopefully it'll go off with a bang instead of a fizz and whine this time.

This is the new sign up thread. The old rule is in effect; sign ups last until June 30th, 12:00 PM Central Standard Time.

All teams will consist of three people chosen randomly from the sign up list. Once in a team, members can come up with a name for their team.

Also, I personally want to apologize to anyone who's been affected by these arguments in the last couple of days. I wanted (and still want) everyone to have as much fun as possible during this competition, and I'm doing my utmost to make sure that no further problems arise.

Alright, just to clear up some confusion: I've agreed to let M3GA be his own team, if and only if he is not needed on another team. It's my way of taking care of a surplus this year. He will be there to fill up a spot on a team that needs one more person. However, if he's not needed for such, he'll be his own team since he's agreed to be at a disadvantage.

If there's anything else you have a problem with, let me know.

I've been made aware that I haven't made the rules very clear. So, as follows:

For a week after the sign up cut off date, teams will have the opportunity to create a team name and to start shit talking (an alternative thread for which will be provided). Once teams have decided their name, PM me or post it in this thread.

The Forum Battle itself runs on a bracket style, with an odd number of teams being solved with a preliminary round decided randomly between two teams. This bracket will be announced once teams are arranged after the cut off date.

Battles will start at midnight Central Standard Time. The thread for a particular battle will be up one day before then, but voting starts at midnight.

Voting lasts for three days, so do your best in that time to pull in the votes!

There will be a period of three days between Forum Battles for teams to begin arranging material for their battle. On the second day, the thread for a new battle will be created, and that is where teams will post their actual material.

Ties will be broken by myself.

The prize is a scarf for each of the team members in the site colors. Also, a beanie of whatever color the winners want. The scarves will go out immediately after the winners decide who gets which, but the hats will take a little longer. Pictures going up as soon as one is finished!

You've never even been in a forum battle thread before?

It's a contest, wherein a team is dubbed the most popular on the forum by a series of voting rounds. Team with the most votes advances to the next round in a tournament style setting.

Teams may garner votes in any way they deem fit, be it photos, videos, funny captions, etc. As long as it's legal and not too offensive (and it complies with the rules!) then it goes.

Alright, here's the thing with the zero member team.

If you're on a zero member team, it stands to reason that the aforementioned team doesn't even properly exist. If it cannot exist, it can't compete.

If you want to be in this year, you've gotta be on a team. I've granted an exception for M3GA because it'll be hilarious watching him try to overcome everything on his own. But a zero-man team with a man on it doesn't make a lick of sense.
