While trying to find any interesting panels to check out this year at Furry Weekend Atlanta, I decided to check out "Living in the Outdoors" since one of my roommates sort of knew the panel's host. It turns out this guy is planning a massive hike from Florida all the way up to Pittsburgh (for Anthrocon, the biggest furcon in the US), with Atlanta being one stop along the way.

He went into the details of preparation, dehydrating food, avoiding cotton clothing, and various other elements for such a long hike. All told, he'll need to cover about 18 miles a day with a 50 pound rucksack, expecting to arrive in 3 months.

Updates are likely to come once a week, as a friend relays letters she receives and updates the website.

I once went on a walkabout with some friends for a week through austria. It was alright. Half of the time we were drunk. Sleeping outisde can be a real pain though, especially when the weather is cold.

Is he doing it in a furry suit? If so, I'll take the under that he makes it past any major city.

There are some jobs that the mexicans haven't taken. You know, the good ones.

The only overlap with being a furry is that he plans on drawing a pic of his fursona in the guestbook of each hiker's inn he stays at.
